Located at the end of a dock on Lynn Creek Marina at Joe Pool Lake, The Oasis is a great way to escape from the hectic city, enjoy good seafood and a change of scenery. Nautical memorabilia adorns the dining room walls. The deck upstairs is a perfect location for a meal, especially on mild Texas evenings. The menu centers on seafood, but also includes a few local favorites, such as nachos and chicken fried steak. Seafood favorites include the grilled trout, fried catfish and sauteed shrimp.
We went there for a birthday on November 1, 2012, and were very disappointed on the service.Waitress did not place the order in the computer for over 18 minutes so food took over 40 minutes and the place was not busy.
Also did not punch in the right food, forgot the grilled shrimp and cole slaw on the other plate. Once we got the food, took another 5 minutes for someone to find some silverware. So the food was only luke warm by then. WE will not be back any time soon.
This was once a great experience, for both dining and the atmosphere. It has now taken a major step backward. Why? The service is horrible. While the food is stilll a step above average, and the price is tolerable, the service will leave you perturbed. Do not get attached to your server; you won't see them again after ordering. For tea refills, grab one of the other servers: they're easy to find because they have abandoned their own tables. I don't want to hear any server's rebuttal concerning this note; if you're not any good at this job, you won't get tipped...find another job.
Do not orer draft it is terrible and OVERPRICED. Food disgusting and oh yea OVERPRICED. A convient place to go and eat after a boat trip or fishig of the piers but pack a bologna sandwich I promise you that you will be more satisfied. Servers did not know any of the specials offered, and the ones that she did tell us were wrong, so we did get charged full price. Rude, inconsistent, and overly expensive woul make up for a terrible place to drink and dine.
Awesome place - if you're looking for a casual atmosphere (waitstaff wears hawaiian shirts), good seafood & fun activities - everything from karaoke to live music to boat parades & poker tournaments. Very hospitable to groups as well. Be sure to try the battered mushrooms & catfish & clam chowder. Hang out on the dock or patio for fresh air and a great view, as well. People are always fishing & feeding the fish nearby. This is my family's favorite local eatery for many reasons.
The only good thing about this place is the view of the lake and the waterfront atmosphere. Our waitress was totally clueless about the menu or even what day it was. She asked about happy hour drinks, which are not even offered on Saturdays. Our appetizer order was totally screwed up and took forever to get to us. We got an extra of one thing and didn't get the calamari until I reminded her to get it.
As to dinner, she forgot to put in my daughter's order, which arrived when everyone else was finished eating so she had to take it home.
My husband and I ordered a seafood louie and it was, without a doubt, the worst salad I've ever ordered. I asked for dressing on the side so when I got my salad it was only lettuce, tomato and a couple slices of cucumber and onion. No seafood in it. The menu promised shrimp, crab and scallops! Turned out there were a few tidbits of these in the dressing itself - VERY few! I've ordered salads at a chain restaurant that were far superior to this one. And this place is supposed to specialize in seafood.
I agree about one reviewer who said it was mostly a pick up bar. The bar was packed and several of the women over there looked like streetwalkers.
We went with a party of 8 adults and 3 kids so got charged the 18% gratuity on our bill. If left up to us, I doubt our ditzy waitress would have gotten any tip-and I'm usually a great tipper.
If you haven't been to this place before - skip it!
I love it here. I've gone several times over the the past few years and its always good! I like sitting outside when its warm. I love feeding the catfish outside. But the food is always pretty good. I'd recomment this place and like to bring friends here!
So today is our 2 year anniversary so we wanted to go somewhere special. We have drove by Oasis numerous times and have always wanted to go in there. We thought tonight would be a good time to go. We have always seen Oasis packed so we just assumed the place was a nice place. We go in and the place had a weird smell and the tables were dirty even though they were cleaned at one time. My wife and I ordered some drinks while we waited for our food. When we got our food I took one bite and it so nasty I had to spit it out and my wife just looked at her food and it turned her stomach. The food is over priced and the food is awfull.
This is a great place to go for a change in scenery. Located right on Joe Pool Lake, the restaurant floats alongside the boat docks. You walk across a little bridge, where you can look down at the massive and crowded fish below, throw some food to them and watch them go crazy in the water. Once on the dock, you come to the restaurant with the boats lined up all around it. The food is average, and the service has always been good. The menu has a variety as well, not just seafood. There's something for everyone on the menu. The prices are fair as well. You can choose to sit inside or outside, though watch out for the birds if you sit outside. Its a great atmosphere and definitely worth a visit if you want a change of pace.
