Description

Owner/chef Bartolino Cocuzza's Amici restaurant has been serving North Dallas with class for several years. The upstairs space is intimate and comfortable with attractively draped windows and a rustic wood floor. Amici doesn't offer wine, so feel free to bring a nice bottle. Special dishes include Rack of Lamb, Pork Tenderloin with garlic-Dijon mustard sauce, John Dory (a mild, delicate fish) and Grilled Venison. Desserts include decadent Tiramisu with brandy and coffee, Almond Basket (a lacy cookie holding strawberry slices in mascarpone cheese) and heavenly White-Chocolate Bread Pudding.

Great food, Cozy restaurant, Attentive staff. They will special prepare your food. I ordered something not on the menu and it was great. Everything tasted fresh.

We really enjoyed the food and cozy atmosphere. It was definitely gourmet and we were able to bring a nice bottle of wine which made the dinner very affordable. We will be going back very soon.

One of the best places in Dallas area. Service is always great and food is outstanding. I've been going there for 15 years.

Great food and a really nice atmosphere, because many times you might be the only people there. The chef is a really nice guy, and its BYOB too. Perfect place for a date

Fabulous place-Kind of hidden-Loft Restaurant-which I really enjoy-Not the huge crowds of 20/30 somethings living above there means-Felt like a small town meets uptown-BYOB-Service was perfect-The chef wasn't there when we went-but the food was beautiful and the taste was great-a must for a 1st and 100th date

Great place. I have been here 5-6 times and it has always been fantastic. A friend from Italy introduced us years ago and says this is the closest to his mother's cooking as he can find in Dallas. The chef has always been to our table (and everyone else's) making sure we are taken care of answering questions, etc. If you don't see something you like, he will work with you to make sure you get what you want. And, this is not the Dallas scene, very much out of the way. Great for entertaining and BYOB makes it fun. Like eating at an old friend's house.

Culinary school visitor
By Johnny, 10/5/07
I learned about Amici while attending Aims Culinary School nearby. My classmates and I ate there frequently, and I was honored to be allowed to intern under the Chef for a few hours. I still go back when I am in that part of the world. The desserts are wonderful. I don't look at the menu. The special, or anything Bart wants to serve me is going to be good. Chef picks excellent menus for the wonderful ingredients he always manages to find. The wild game is always a winner.

Simply The Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/07
Amici's is the best restaurant in the area. Nothing comes close. I've been eating at Amici's since it opened and have never been disappointed. Chef Bartolino and his staff run a first class show. Italian dishes are only part of the offering. There are always excellent nightly specials to pick from. Be aware that is is BYOB, which I like. You can bring an excellent bottle of wine and have a superb meal for much less than other quality eateries charge.

Always a pleasure!
By Onsy, 1/23/07
I loved the atmosphere and the food. I also loved the chef coming out to say hi and to explain the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
