Maybe this place settles the needs of Mexican food for locals who have never eaten at a Mexican place outside of Ada. I have had the luxury of eating Mexican across the country--from what I could tell this place sucks.
I don t know how good the food is because I was so mad at my lack of service my girlfriend and I walked out.
We sat down, ordered water and asked for a bar drink menu. The bartender brought us back the drink menu and chips and ketchup disguised at salsa (NO WATERS), after about six or seven minutes of watching our bartender, who was NOT busy (I ve worked in restaurants for 8 years), make three trips to the right table next to ours he finally asked us if we decided on drinks. We ordered drinks and waters (AGAIN), we also asked him a question about an entree to which he pulled an answer out of his rear rather than admitting he didn t know the answer and finding out for us. We sat there another ten minutes or so, watching him. He still hadn t started making our drinks so we left. NEVER TO RETURN.
I highly recommend going somewhere else (maybe the hole in wall on Mississippi) if you have food allergies or any standard in overall service. Also the only vegetarian options listed on the menu were the queso and guacamole appetizers, maybe the rice and beans--I wouldn t know though because the bartender was just making stuff up as he went.
The decor was pretty cool though, I ll give them that.
This place has been my favorite Mexican restaurant since I was little. Now that I live 2 and a half hours away, it is always a stop we make when we head to Grandma's. They have the best guacamole and queso fondido with mushrooms! Yum. The margarita's aren't bad either.
My family routinely orders: tacos, completely filled with ground beef, the lettuce and tomato have to fall to the plate, quesadillas, filled with grilled fajita chicken strips, beef fajitas, table flamed with lots of veggies, queso fundido, huge plate of monterey jack cheese melted with mushrooms, shredded beef tacquitos, huge chopped beef burritos. The complimentary salsa IS a little bland but that's not why we go there. The flour tortillas are hand made and sooo soft. We always have to take a to go box since there is so much food. Long lines on Friday and Saturday nights, come early.
I have went to Polo's since I was little. The entire family loves this place. If we have an out of town guest we make sure to take them to Polo's. The chicken quesadillas are the best!! Also the queso fundido is my other favorite. The chips and salsa are like no one elses and the tortillas are made fresh daily! Great place!
I have eaten at Polo's since I was a little girl; the food has always been wonderful and most of the servers are very friendly, helpful, and always greet you with a smile! The atmosphere is really unique and the flaming fajitas are awesome!!!
