This is popular local restaurant. It has a nice buffet and is known for their pork ribs. Overall the food is well prepared and quite tasty. I would say it is a little confusing to call this resaurant a Bar-B-Q place. The meat is not cooked over mesquite or hickory as you would find in Texas Bar-B-Q such as Poke' Joes's in Round Rock, TX or over hickory such as Arthur Bryant's BBQ in Kansas City. They prepare there meat in what I would call Mother's Country Kitchen style. It is baked and boiled in sauces. This doesn't make it bad just different.
The potato salad, and cole slaw are very good. Not to sweet. Just right. The beans are sweet Boston style like you find in Kansas City or Memphis style Bar-B Q. Okay if you like this type of bean. Texans would not be caught dead serving this style bean with barbecue. It is always ranch style for Texas Bar-B-Q. I don't like the sweet beans with my barbecue but maybe okay with this Mother's country style cooking. The plate meals come with french fries but you can substitute for cole slaw or potato salad. Which I did. Sorry, but the fries did not look that good to me.
Their pork ribs are very tasty and have a nice glaze. The brisket is called sliced but I would call it shaved. The brisket is soaked in a water based black pepper sauce. Quite spicy and a little hot for me. The pork loin was good.
Price for the plate meals is good and they serve you a good size helping. The ribs are over priced for what you get. However, the buffet is $10 and you can pig out on ribs. (No carry outs from the buffet.)
On the Saturday evening when I went to this restaurant they were about 80 percent full but the service was pretty good.
So overall I would rate this place as good.
