My wife and I ate at Wright's when we arrived in Duncan for a concert. The surroundings were less than desirable but we thought we would give it a try. They are located in the heart of an industrial district. The salad bar was good, except for the fact that the fried okra was soaked in grease and the potato wedges were as hard as a rock. We ordered two sirloins medium .When they arrived we found that our Goodyear tires had more juice; horribly overcooked. We sent them back for a second round. One was better and the other was just like the first. We choked them down and got out as fast as possible. Had it not been for the fact that the dinner rolls and the peach cobbler were very good, the entire event would have been a total bust. We will go to Golden Corral next time. I have deleted Wright's from my GPS. I have learned that a restaurant in the parking lot of an oil field pipe yard may not be the most upscale place to eat.
We were in Wright's Steak House last week end and found the service to be very satisfactory. The steaks were good and cooked as ordered. Staff were friendly and the salad bar was fresh. This steak house has been in business for over 40 years (I know because my husband, Tiny Wright, started this business). They must be doing something Wright...as they are still in business. Make the Wright choice and continue to patronize this establishment.
Nasty run down needs to close Goodners steak house was the best before his kids tried to change everything but it burned and now Wrights is the only steak house left in Duncan and it sucks drive to Bobs its better and they dont resuse food.
This is the best place to eat in town. The prices are very reasonable, unless you prefer McDonalds or cafeteria fare. Being located a little bit out of the way doesn't seem to hurt them, as the tables are usually occupied. The reason Duncan doesn't attract better restaurants -and the reason we have lost some great ones, is that people don't like to pay for quality. They only want cheap food in quantity. The food is very good. You get more than enough to eat. You can't get food like it anywhere else in town and the place has been redecorated very nicely.
The salad people are griping about paying a bit more for is actually a large salad bar, including side dishes, soups, and stews, not to mention the fresh salads. Their house dressing is really good, too. Well worth paying a bit extra --not that you have to. The last time I was there, February 2009, the salad bar was, in fact, included. You also get a free desert.
I'm a long time customer. I remember eating at Wright's as a kid, and whenever I take someone out to eat, they always love this place. If you're too tight to pay for good food, it's your loss. No, I don't own it, nor do I work there. I do appreciate quality and I'm willing to pay for it.
