I have so many fond memories of the Fortune Cookie in Altus! When I was there in the 80 s my favorite thing to order was the egg rolls. Two of those pork, chicken or shrimp and I was full. Much better than going to that oriental restaurant just off-base. I plan to pass through Altus in the near future on business and will definitely stop by for some egg rolls!
me and my girlfriend ate there recently and it was ridiculous.she ordered the beef and peppers on noodles. they brought her out ramen noodles with a few pieces of beef and a whole green bell pepper sliced on top. then they wanted to charge us 10.99 for her plate. i was so pist, i paid for my meal only and walked out. i would never recommend this place to anyone.
Altus disappoints me again!! So I finally tried this place out because it was the only non buffet Chinese resturant in town. I ordered something safe sweet & sour chicken. How can you mess that up? The chicken they used was of pour quality, they did not use white meat/chicken breast, the batter or the ckicken tasted funny, it was over cooked, and the sweet & sour sauce was of pour quality lacking flavor. I am Asian and I would of done a lot better job cooking this myself. I am hoping I will not get sick from eating here. The pricing for their menu is way over priced for normal American Chinese favorites. I had the sweet & sour chicken, tea, and eggrolls which came out to more than 20 dollars. This was during lunch today, You would think that they would of had a lunch special menu for their most popular favorities. The lunch special menu they have consist of one daily special per day Mon- Fri. Poor quality of food and over pricing is what you will be expecting out of this place. I will not be giving Fortune Cookie any repeat business.
Great place never ate inside but always order out bad thing they dont take credit cards but you do get alot of food I never had alot of salt on anything I dont even taste it I guess unless your a really picky eater but great value for price.
Went there the other day and the food was awful. I took a bite of fried rice and had to spit it out because I took in a mouthful of salt with my fried rice. I pushed it aside thinking it was a fluke but a couple of bites later again I had a mouthful of salt with my fried rice and spit that out and promptly threw away the big container of fried rice. Wasted seven dollars. Don't they know that soy sauce is salty? And so you don't add salt to fried rice.
I loved the atomsphere, its little but cozy. When you first enter you'll here the wok frying up some fresh rice. Then there will be someone right away to help you. When you order anything from Fortune Cookie, you always get more than you can eat. After you're done eating all you can they'll put it in a carry-out were you'll have plenty more to eat tomorrow. Always a good place to eat during the afternoon and a bang for your buck.
