Cattlemens Steakhouse Incorporated

Description

Founded in 1910, this is the oldest restaurant in Oklahoma, made famous when then-President George Bush ate here in 1992. This Stockyard City restaurant is famous for its delicious steaks and its lamb fries. It is great for breakfast, too. A good-sized breakfast is more than reasonably priced. The lamb fries are the most unusual delicacy; ask your server to describe them to you. Otherwise, choose from a large selection of great steaks, burgers and sandwiches.

The steak was good but was more like a Prime Rib than a steak. It needed more of the flame kissed flavor than it had for my taste. The service was OK but could have been better. But this was just a day after an OKC Police Officer was shot taking the deposits to the bank so I will give them the benefit of the doubt!

My family and I eat here often. My husband and I always order the large portion of filet mingion wrapped with bacon, baked potato, salad and potato skins. The food is extremely good. The evening service is more friendly and professional I have noticed over the years, especially if you sit on the right side of the restaurant. I have had the chicken fried steak and didnt care for it much. I reccomend the filet mingion!

Stopped in here for lunch with a couple of other guys and was excited about having a good meal from a place I had only heard great things about. I decided to try the chicken fried steak and let me tell you it was like eating a piece of leather. The other guys with me seemed to enjoy their food with no issues but neither had the cfs. I will try them again for other menu items but warn you not to eat the Chicken fried steak unless you like eating a leather boot. When I do go back I will review that meal as well to be fair because this is based on only the meal I had this time.

Excellent meal as always. Tender perfectly cooked steak and those lamb fries are awesome. Yes, the place is old, but who cares? Not going because of the decor. Always have a good waitperson. Great for large get togethers.

I had read rave reviews about Cattlemen's, my husband had tried it once before and warned me that it was not as these magazines have portrayed. Our experience was a complete nightmare from the moment we sat down. We should have brought a fly swatter there were too many flies to just swish away. The ceiling is falling apart, the vent is being held up by a dish towel, and cob webs hanging from the ceiling(no kidding). BUT, the worst part was when a HUGE cricket landed right next to my coffee, I screamed while my husband scrambled to kill it with the A-1 bottle. We told the waitress and her reply "this happened to three women yesterday and they all screamed". I grew up on a farm so I understand nature but not inside a restaurant. It was DIRTY, FILTHY, DIRTY... including my husband finding a used steak knife in his seat and I a dirty spoon in mine. And really the steak was no better than the Outback. My suggestion to Cattlemen's is "CLEAN UP" it's time to put some profits back into the restaurant not all in your pockets. Sorry hubby, you were so right.

Over the years I have seen this place slowely go down hill. The first time I ever ate at Cattlemen's it was one of the best steaks I have ever had cooked for me. Since then either they have changed cooks or stopped caring about how well they cook a steak. The last time my wife and kids went I ordered my steak medium well, and my step son ordered the chicken fried steak. My steak came out done on the outside but the inside was blood rare. If you have ever had to send a steak back at any restaurant you understand that sending one back only gets you something even worse then what you had. My step sons Chicken Fried steak was dry and gristly. He told me it was worse then the one he had at Pops in Arcardia and when we was there he told me that Pops Chicken Fried steak was one of the worst he had ever eaten. lol The salads were very skimpy, the bread was that nasty toasted dried pieces of bread. The best part of the meal was the service. I am with one of the other reviews, we should have just handed 30.00 to the waitress and left without eating. lol Total price of our bill was around $80.00 for the 4 of us. Not even close to being worth 20.00 worth of good food. Sadly this was the last time we will ever go back here. Hope they turn things around. History can only carry you so far in the restaurant business before lack of decent food kills it.

I was utterly shocked by this place..I used to hear how good this place was..and it being in Stockyard City i was like "It cant go wrong". Well i was wrong. All i could say when i left was OMFG. The steak was good..bland...but good. But i paid 20 bucks for a dinner..i expect to get good rolls..not dry bread. A dinner salad..with real dressing..not mayo sprinkled with paprika. And the baked potato..could u be any less cheap. It looked, and felt like it had been sitting in a warm oven all day. It was dry and hard..and all they did was cut it open......yea thats it. no toppings at all. They brink u a plate with butter and sour cream..geez. That was my first and last time going there. If i could i would have paid the waitress the 30 bucks we spent instead of the meal.
