Classic 50's Drive-In, Norman

When I was a student at OU, we had Classic 50's deliver at all hours of the night during the wee hour study sessions or after a long night out on the town. The food is just as good 20+ years later - SOOO good, that whenever I am back in my beautiful home state, I will drive any number of miles out of my way to have a meal there...the Pickle-O's are amazing as is anything else on the menu....SOO many choices - beats the PANTS off of Sonic! :o) Rock On, Classic 50's! A Norman and Boomer Sooner way of life!

When I want to give a little example of local flavor to my clients we drive into Classic 50s. Their one of a kind shakes, freezes, and slushes are excellent. The service is always fast and friendly. It is a wonderful place to sit and eat outside when the weather is nice.

I love eating here when I just need a mustard burger and some onion rings. Its been around forever and the food is better than Sonic. Get a limeade, they rock.

I LOVE Classic's, so much that I work there now! It is addicting people, let me tell you. :-) Our potato boats.. SO good!

I love this place. Sonic has been trying to kill this business for over a decade but just can't do it. They even parked a Sonic right next to Classic 50's but they gave up and closed the place down and moved. Classic 50's is a Norman tradition and every resident should eat there at least once. Its burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, tater tots, hotdogs, etc, so its not gourmet cuisine but it is good old american style hands on food. I avoid Sonic and always go here.

This place is absolutely great. A nice family owned joint right on the main drag. The people are always nice and the food is even better. With a Sonic popping up on every corner all across America (including the corner right across the street from Classic 50s) this place is a nice and needed change. I have eaten here a couple of times a week for as long as I have lived in Norman, and out of all that time they have only gotten the order wrong once. Thats a much better record than most, that much I am sure of! The prices here are reasonable and the menu is extensive. Complete with old-fashioned neon everywhere, the food is just part of the experience. Highly recommended.
