Othello's Italian Restaurant, Norman

So happy Othello's is reopened with new owners! All the reviews for this place before August 2011 don't matter any more! The service is better! The food is better! Othello's is better! I hope everyone helps support this family run business!

My husband and I went there for my birthday and let me tell ya that for the price we paid it wasn't worth it. We got 3 items and 2 cokes for $33 and that didn't even come with salads for bread. Very over priced and the food wasn't that good, so we won't be going back. The service was good and it's kinda dark.

I cannot begin to describe how horrible our experience was last night. I now know how the diners feel on Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. First we ordered drinks, except they don't have a blender (a bar and a restaurant without a blender?? wtf?) so our selection was limited. What we got was a berry something drink, that looked and tasted more than a little bit like vomit. Then a tequila sunrise, which was almost all tequila and nothing else. For an appetizer, we had the calamari, except what we were given was not calamari... probably just enough for taste, and tripe or something else for filler. Our entrees were the veal parmigiana, except instead of veal it was thin sliced beef that had been pounded to bits, and the chicken marsala which was a small strip of undercooked chicken swimming in a sauce that was more than half straight grease. The side dishes of spaghetti was pathetic... if i had wanted store bought pasta, i would have gone to WalMart. The waitstaff was far too busy being so emo to actually provide good service. When they did get around to your table, it was far too obvious that it was at their great inconvenience. I would not be surprised to see this place go under in less than a year. I would say it was costing the owner a fortune, but considering what i paid for it (over $50) and how much it would take to prepare the crap we were served... they are probably making money.

EW! This place is horrible. The bread is gross. The service sucks.. I gave them 3 chances and on the 3rd time we went, they sat us next to the kitchen (at 6pm on a weeknight) where we got to see all kinds of SYSCO boxes taken in and out of the kitchen. Obviously they buy in most of their food. This place is far from authentic. If you want really good Italian food, Norman doesn't have it, yet.

I've never eaten there, but I drink there all the time. The food smells good. The atmosphere reminds me of some gangster movie.

i've only been here once.... needless to say, i don't desire to comeback... considering that this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, the pasta i ordered tasted so bland... i thought it was just my meal so i tried on the other entree that my friends ordered, and it just didn't taste appealing... anyway, i like the ambiance though, it's ideal for romantic dinner for two or even just for hanging out...

I've traveled a lot and eaten at a lot of places and by far, Othello's is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is fantastic for a group of friends or for a date. The service has always been excellent and the food is phenomenal as well as the prices. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone!

If you can only visit one Italian restaurant in Norman, go to Othello's in Campus Corner. The food is superb, the atmosphere eclectic and the service is great. What more can you say? This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, the other Othello's off I-35 on restaurant row does not live up to the original. If you want the genuine Othello's experience, go to this one in Campus Corner. It rocks!
