Tarahumara's Mexican Cafe, Norman

Best Mexican food? Maybe it was just me, but I thought it was horrible, especially for the high prices. The tables all have bright colored advertisements on them which is really tacky and cheap looking. The service is fast, but the prices are pretty high for what tastes like frozen food heated up on a plate. I got the enchalada platter, refried beans, rice and 2 cheese enchaladas. I cut into the enchalada and the cheese just stretched from the plate to my mouth without even thinking about breaking or getting thinner. Bright orange colored rubbery cheese is not what I thought $12 was going to get me. Yes, it was hot and cooked all the way, it's just that when you buy the cheapest cheese that exists (part cheese and part fat), it never actually melts all the way - it just stretches. I buy best choice cheese from Homeland (the cheapest brand they sell) and when I make Mexican food at home it is not as cheap as what Tarahumara's served me. Mexican food is not gourmet, and I didn't expect a classy experience, but this was just insulting.

Everytime I travel out of state, I make a point to try out the local Mexican restaurants. I have yet to find one that is better than Tarahumara's. The food is awesome, the service is great, and there are so many options! The wait is sometimes a little long on a busy night like Friday or Saturday, but it is worth it! They will make up for your wait time with the superfast service you will receive once you're seated.

My husband is mexican, and I have to say this is by far the best food in OK. I loved being able to view all the areas with their security system, even the kitchen! The food and service was just incredible. Our wait time was less than 5 minutes. They had our table cleaned and ready for the next guests before we left the cashier, they don't waste time and our glasses were never empty. They even brought the green sauce without having to ask. Love, Love, Love this place! Thumbs up!!!

Best Mexican food in OKC area. I have been going here since the place opened. The reason why it is so crowded is because everyone has told every soul they know about this place. If you don't like crowds go to one of the less crowded not so good establishments instead or go to the best around and wait awhile. Your choice.

when calling to put orders in. it takes them along time to answer the phone with many hostess they have..., but other wise food is good

What I find interesting are the people who give this place a bad rating have only rated 1 restaurant ever on Yahoo. That tells me one that they probably don't know good mexican food when they eat it and two they are probably a relative or friend of someone who competes with this place. Probably both. Now onto my review of this excellent place. When the owner is a waiter and is willing to keep a television camera on the dang kitchen you know he has confidence in his restaurant and quality of food. I have eaten here at least 20 times and never had a bad experience nor bad food. There is no mexican restaurant that is better than this place in the OKC metro. Not even Ted's. I love Ted's but sorry they are just a step below this place. I will say it is very crowded and that is because it's an excellent place to eat. So if you don't like crowds eat here on the off hours or go someplace like Ricky's that is never busy to eat and puke your guts out. Your choice but I would rather wait.

The food is alright. The price doesn't matter too much to me although it might to others. I have been passed over while waiting for a table to the tune of 30 minutes. They try to put too many tables in there and makes it too crowded to get up and use the restroom or a right handed person to sit next to a left handed person at another table ( well, maybe not, but close). If they get your order wrong, say nothing as they made such a huge deal about my order being wrong that I was constantly bothered by the waiter and manager that I couldn't enjoy my dinner with my family. Parking is less than enough so bring your walking shoes. In summary, I have left 3 times wishing I had not eaten there, all for different reasons. If I want something better, I'll drive to Las Fajitas in Moore.

Forget this place. I've been a customer since before they put TV's in this establishment. My business probably bought at least half of the TV's in this place now but no more. After enduring experiences of too many waiter's butts on our table because patrons are packed in like sardines we started ordering carry out. Well the portions got thinner and thinner until a $30 order of double fajitas became a single for the same price. Efrain, you have lost our business permanently. Especially after your manager on duty hung up on my wife when she called regarding our shorted order. This place is not worth the wait nor the price. What happened, Efrain? Don't bother answering it doesn't matter anymore.

love this place - always get the chicken faijta nachos (however you spell it) only had one problem with my order which was fixed right away - friendly service - portions could be more for what the price is - but hey its great all that matters

Tarahumara's is my favorite mexican place to eat! I really like their avocado enchiladas with sour cream sauce! We went yesterday and I mixed things up a little bit and ordered the ground beef enchiladas. They were good too. There were five in our group and everyone of us agreed that it was great food!
