A group of 16 of us went there for brunch on Sunday, June 27,2010. By the way, we were the first group in the door and it wasn't busy! I understand that we were a big group, but 5 members received their food 30 minutes after the other 11 got theirs. NO APOLOGY OFFERED, just an excuse that the kitchen is small. Then 1 member's food was incorrect. So the server took it back and said it would be corrected immediately. 15 minutes later, he got his new plate of food. STILL incorrect! Once again, NO APOLOGY OFFERED. I asked that his meal be taken off the check as we couldn't wait around for
another eternity and the manager stated she would have to charge for the hash browns. Really?! No, I don't think so! Then when we were leaving, the snotty cashier stated that we all had bad attitudes (us???) and they hoped we never came back - even tho we just spent almost $200 there and left a nice tip (none of this was server's fault, by the way). So don't dare complain if you go to this restaurant because the customer is always wrong in their eyes. Small businesses like this don't deserve to succeed if this is how they treat their customers.
Food critique: Don't have the country fried steak - frozen patties that you would expect to get in a school cafeteria. And they charged us extra for the gravy! Since when does country fried steak not come with gravy?!
Summary - Terrible customer service from the manager, the kitchen and the cashier. Average food that you could get anywhere. I could say a lot more but this restaurant isn't worthy of any more of my time. All we wanted was a nice breakfast and all we got was a horrible taste left in our mouths and acid in our stomachs from this experience. Go to Restaurant on the Corner at your own risk! You've been duly warned!
Restaurant on the Corner was a mainstay restaurant on Dickson Street for many years. They moved to Highway 112 (just north of the 112 Drive-In Theater) several years ago. The food is always fresh, well-prepared, reasonably priced and has imagination. Their personal pizzas have always been superb, as are their sandwiches such as the Corner Porker (my favorite) are excellent. The salads are always wonderfully put together. However, their homemade french fries are a tradition. They serve lunch and dinner where you can order steaks and seafood, as well. They carry a nice selection of beers and wines, as well.
