Do Yourself a Favor - Don't Go

The working side of the restaurant faces the parking lot. There were cleaning supplies in the windowsills which immediately gave me a bad impression and my gut feeling was we should go somewhere else. It showed an immediate lack of attention to detail. After placing our order the table beside us sent their food back, which was another bad sign. I ordered the salmon w/bernaise sauce. The fish was so overcooked as to be inedible, the sauce amounted to less than a teaspoonful. It looked like a smudge of dried out mayo. My husband had the prime rib, medium rare. It looked (and smelled) like a piece of charcoal when it arrived. Sending food back is a losing (and scary) proposition so we tried to make the best of it. What we should have done is left immediately upon seeing our plates. When the waitress noticed that we'd only had a couple of bites she asked how the food was and we told her. She said it did look overcooked BUT we should have told her sooner and she would have fixed it. Since it was obvious even to the waitress that the food was poorly prepared why did the chef send it out that way? Where their glorious reviews come from is beyond me. No reputable chef would prepare something like this. We were there the night of 3/10/07 and our bill was between $70 & $80 with the tip. After we left I was furious with myself for paying for the meal and tipping the waitress on top of it all. At the time I felt it wasn't her fault and she shouldn't be punished, but afterwards I felt she didn't even attempt to do anything in our behalf, which she should have. Also forgot to mention their salad dressing (blue cheese). It was the thinnest, most watered down mess I've ever had. Ok, that's it. Guess you can tell we couldn't have hated it more ..........
