We read the negative reviews and went anyway based on the advice of the motel clerk. We found the restaurant to be excellent. We had only salads and appetizers because we had eaten a big lunch, but others with main entrees seemed to be quite pleased. The service was excellent.
This place is a bait and switch kind of place. On the menu it says add a loaded bake potato to any entree for $1.99. But you get your bill they charge you almost $5. When I talked to the waitress she said no the meal only comes with one side and you have to pay full price for extra.
We ate at this restaurant has a family and we all ordered their pastas. All of our pastas were overcooked and each one of the sauces they used were too sweet. I paid a bill of 82.36 for only 5 people and all pastas. The drinks (coke, sprite, sweet teas) are overpriced and the side salads are way too small. The menu says that the Srimp Fettucine and Shrimp Linguine both come with 8 shrimps and we were only given 4 per order. The service was ok, but server was pushy due to the fact that the Owner told her (I over-heard him) to puch steaks on us. Won't go back again.
By far the worst dining experience I have EVER had. Stopped in on our way to St.Louis to have a nice romantic dinner. We ordered the ribeye and Ahi tuna 14.95 and 17.95 (seeing as how it is a steak and seafood restaurant we assumed this was a safe choice). The tuna was served with a measly portion of frozen vegetables and frozen chewy asparagus...about 6 small pieces all of it was cold. It was drenched in a terrible sweet sauce and incredibly salty peppercorn crust topped with pita strips drenched in oil. It was also strangely chewy and pretty gross. The steak was served with a hard yellow nuked baked potato the size of a child's fist with prepackaged butter and sourcream like the kind you get from wendys. It was tough and tasted like it had been marinated in liquid smoke. My meal was brought out at least five minutes before his. The bread served was a microwaved presliced hoagie roll. The salads had lettuce stems in each of them. Each of us have many years of restaurant experience both front of the house and back and we have never sent food back. We politely asked to pay for our salads and tip the waitress, but did not want to pay for our entrees that were clearly not up to par with what they were charging for them. We were apologetic and civil, however they told us that they could not do anything simply because we did not like the food and proceeded to tell us we shouldn't have ordered it (clearly). What we assumed to be the manager came up yelling that we had to pay for the entire meal and that they had never had anyone complain before. We again apologized saying this was embarassing and that we were not trying to be rude but that we were not going to eat the food. The hostess then made some stupid analogy about how if you don't like something at wal mart you can't return it? To make the most uncomfortable situation even worse the manager said you know what fine and picked up the phone and called the police?!? INSANE. Not apologetic not helpful blamed us for poor quality and then called the police on us for complaining about it. We handed them 40 dollars and walked out with empty stomachs and two full plates on the table to avoid the horrifying confrontation. Will call better business bureau tomorrow.
