My wife and I dined here for our 7th wedding anniversery. Service was great but food was absolutely horrible. appetizers were decent; Brie soup a little runny, but flavorful; smoked fish very tasty, but served w/store bought crackers, a few onion slices and store-bought mustard. We could have done better at home. Caesar salad was dry w/old crutons and old lettuce. Entrees were another story: Every meat/seafood entree seems to be covered in a sickly-sweet sauce. My vegees looked like they were cooked early in the morning then re-heated prior to service: extremely dry and rubbery. When pointed out to the waiter, he said that the vegees were pan roasted and should look/taste like that (BS!); he offered up steamed vegess instead; I accepted but noticed on my tab that they tried to charge for them--later resolved. The Vennison was absolutely horrible. Thin, indescript cut of meat masked w/fried onions and some kind of wine/onion sauce. I ate a third of it and turned it back. My wife ordered the 8 oz fillet which was cooked correctly, but again covered with too much sauce (are they hiding a flaw?) and cost $29!!!!! I spoke briefly with the manager, but he barely could look me in the eye.
Although a wonderful atmosphere for a romantic evening, do not waste your time. Terrible food for the price and a much better experience can be had at Cajun's Wharf w/much better food (and cheaper!)
Vennison entree removed from bill, which was nice, but bill was still $96 for two (two martini's, two glasses of wind, two appetizers, and two entrees). I expect much more for that amount of money.
