went on recent Saturday, continuous line, dirty tables, long wait, cramped quarters, fries overcooked to burned, same with hush puppies, fish was hard on outside, mush on inside, cole slaw tasteless and watery--no chance to ask for replacement--place was packed. some folks came with 2 strollers if not just one, adding to crush. not worth the hassle/bad food. NEVER going back. you can have my place, if you want this experience!

I tried the salmon, and left wishing I had tried the catfish plate, which is what they're known for. I thought the salmon was just all right, a little on the fishy side, and I've cooked salmon enough at home to know you can make farm-raised salmon NOT taste fishy with the right marinade/seasoning. I was there a little before 5 pm and waited about 30 minutes in line to place my order. Once I placed my order they had my food to me pretty quick though. The place was hopping and I noticed most people ordered the catfish, so definitely will go back and try that. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant--has a laidback, casual feel to it.

Guess the shrimp fly too! Because there were maybe 2 and a half on my shrimp po-boy and they were flattened to the thickness of a quarter. For $8 I was expecting a bit more. This restaurant wouldn't last 3 minutes in New Orleans. They know (in N.O.) how to make a po-boy. I guess in L.R., Ar., it will fly, but not with this girl who has seen and tasted real po-boys before. I hope their other menu items are better. I would hate for tourists to L.R. to leave with the "this leaves a lot to be desired" feeling I had.

holy smokes.. this place is awesome.. a different special for every day of the week. If you go on a weekend be assured you can find this place by the line outside the door. the fish is awesome, and you if your order "snappy" it will be extra spicy.. don't worry about the line, its worth the wait, and they'll whet your appetite by serving you hushpuppies while you wait.

Save Billy Bass!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/08
Where else can you go and give Billy Bass a home where someone else will TRULY love him forever, and not stick him in a yard sale box eventually? Take Billy Bass to The Flying Fish and they will not only give him a home, but give you a meal! The food is FRESH, and TASTY. It takes a little while to get your food, because I mean it is FRESH! We went when my inlaws came from Indiana, and they loved it, and the atmosphere is fun. The prices are fair, portions are plenty! Next time I bring Billy with me, though, if I can find the box he is in!

Not everyone has flying fish
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/08
Although frequently very busy, it's still a fun place to go. The kids enjoy looking at the flying fish on the wall, which makes a great conversation.

Alright, it's got character, good food, and one of the most interesting Billy Bass collections I've ever seen. If you have one of those singing fish, you can give it to the Fliying Fish and they will take care of it for you, you also get some free food, I think...? I was there in December 07, so the weather was a tad chilly, I'm sure during the summer it gets pretty rock'in. As other post have noted, all you have to do is say, "make it snappy!!". The spice will light you up - it's all good too!!. You can also get fried hot peppers, awesome. President Clinton Ave is where the action is... wink, wink!!

Lotsa Fun, No Pretention in Little Rock
By chevytexas, 6/10/07
One of the best things about Flying Fish in Little Rock is that it's in the middle of things, and you'll soon find yourself with a view. If you're a traveler, you'll find this either amusing and familiar (from the South) or a little off-putting. Sit at a big table with others; take someone else's photo. The latino staff makes all the differencia: "make it snappy!" means "spicy" and that, too, is a matter of your culture. Everyone who comes in the door says "heighdy", assuming you're from there, too --that's a wonderful thing for a stranger in a warm embracing town eager to show you a relaxed time. Great value, plenty of beer, crawdads (or mudbugs), fried clams or catfish --or tilapia it that's your thang.
