I have visited this restaurant in the past and it was ok. This time was far worse. First the waitress was so scatterbrained that she had to go back to kitchen to find the answer to every question I asked. Then the food was not that great. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was dripping with grease. My understanding is that grilled is not the same as fried. Also, my wife ordered a cheeseburger that was dripping with grease. Needless to say this was a horrible experience and we will not be returning.
There are a lot of good reasons to stop by in Lake Village - the Arkansas Welcome Center, the Paul Michael decorator outlet store, and the good southern cooking. I was traveling through and stopped on a Sunday for their buffet lunch. It was priced quite reasonably, and was very traditionally southern. Excellent fried catfish and chicken, but there were other traditional touches. Field peas instead of blackeye peas, turnip greens, and chunked boiled eggs in the gravy, just like my grandma made. As well a fried offerings, they had an excellent roasted chicken, meatloaf and beef roast. The beef was a bit tough, and could have used more seasoning. It would also have been nice if they had some traditional southern relishes with the catfish, such as green tomato relish or pickled beet relish. All in all, I'd have to say it was an excellent value for good homestyle traditional southern food.
