The Yankee who did not like his steak was probably really confused by the name of the restaurant. What was the first word? Crawfish. Sounded like he had a bad attitude before he got out of the car.
We drove 4 hours to eat at this restaurant based on the strength of the reviews on Urbanspoon. Right up front, we were delighted by the service yesterday, Friday, May 28, 2010. Very clean girls with pleasant and real smiles who treated us like royalty.
I had never had crawfish and was afraid to order the mudbugs. My husband and I ordered one seafood sampler plate and shared it for lunch. My husband doesn't really like seafood so this was a real test.
We received a large platter piled with food. Everything was fried which is just fine by our standards...we are Southern. Fried frog legs, oysters, crawfish tails, stuffed shrimp, shrimp, stuffed softshell crab, hushpuppies and french fries. We ate everything and loved it. They have homemade tartar sause which they should bottle and sell.
The owner overheard me say that I had never tried crawfish and she wouldn't stand for that. She brought out a bowl of huge crawfish, showed us how to crack and peel them and I just went for it and ate it. I was pleasantly surprised. I loved it. Quite spicy. I love the owners and waitresses and the ambiance and the food. We will return.
