Juban's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/10
The main food was great, however I would not have served any of the side dishes. I was amazed at the poor quality and taste of the side dishes. Maybe they figure people don't really eat those, because the main part of the dish was excellent.

Gumbo was great.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/10
Don't let the location turn you off. It is located in a rundown strip mall but this restaurant is nicely cared for with a tasteful decor. We had the gumbo which was great and a crab appetizer that was also very tasty.

Wonderful
By local yahoo user, 11/12/07
The resturant is beautiful and the food is wonderful. My husband is from La and he said that the gumbo was the best he has ever tasted. I fell in love with this place. The staff go above and beyond. This is true class dining. It was mentioned in a earlier post that the location was shady, this was not the case. I am glad I tried it even after reading the reviews about the location. The location is right around the corner from the Arcaidian center where we stayed. To show that it is not so shady a class of 1997 LSU law students were having a reunion there when we had dinner. I doubt if these lawyers would have a reunion in a shady part of town. GIve this place a try it is wonderful. You must have the bread pudding also!

waste of money

just had dinner at jubans tonight. i will start out by saying i enjoyed the creme brulee and they did seem to have a nice drink selection and the service and ambiance (once inside the restaurant)were good! the food wasnt bad, but it certainly wasnt worth 140 dinner for 2 people (includes 1 dessert and 1 glass house wine and 2 other 8 dollar drinks and a 25.00 tip). some higher end places we have eaten dinner at locally are sullivans, melting pot, and mansurs in the past few months and we enjoyed all these places,(our favorite is mansurs). but compared to these others, jubans is not even worth the trip you have to make into the "hood" where its located to eat there. good thing there is a police car that stays in the parking lot. also this was the most expensive out of all these others named-which would not have mattered if the food had been good. would definitely NOT recommend to anyone and will not return.

Awesome!!!
By Trey, 4/12/07
I've been to this restaurant a total of four times and it has never fallen short of expectations. One trip was a two-person dinner that was very private and we felt that the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. The last trip was a twenty-person birthday party and the staff kept up with everything flawlessly. Great food, great drinks, great time. Highly recommended!

Not up to ususal standards
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/18/07
On a recent visit to Juban's, I was disappointed in the food that in the past had been outstanding. I ordered the fillet special. The meat, while cocked to my medium rare specifications, had a mushy quality that was somewhat unpleasant. The overall dish was at best tepid in temperature. In addition, their Wine Spectator award seems to have gone to their head. I found the wine prices rediculous for brands and vintages available elsewhere for considerable less.

We had a good time!
By Sherrye, 10/27/06
My husband took me to Juban's for a romantic dinner, and we had absolutely delicious food and a good bottle of wine. I did get the wrong entree, but they were quick to fix the issue. ....and we got a good laugh out of it. It was expensive, but we were not looking to go to a fast food restaurant that night. Juban's is a nice place to dine if you want a romantic "dress up" date night with your favorite person.

the food was just fabulous
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/05
from the atmosphere to the great food and service our trip to Juban's exceeded our expectations. This restaurant has been around for 25 years and I understand why. My husband and I will definitely go back sometime in the near future.

Best of the Best
By CaroleG, 1/28/05
When visitors come to Baton Rouge I try to get time to take them to Jubans for either lunch or dinner. The food is superb and the selection will please anyone. The decor is elegant and relaxing and the service is perfect. I usually order some kind of seafood. First-time visitors often order the "hallelujah crab" which is a deep-fried soft-shell crab with its claws extended upward as if to shout. Charming, and delicious, but not a lot of food so unless I'm not really hungry I pass on it. Also they have a good wine list and fabulous desserts.
