I had a Pabst Blue Ribbon draft (plastic cup- I guess an LSU football game-day policy?) with the fried shrimp plate. The salad, with bleu cheese dressing, was big and good, plus the entree had large shrimp (batter was just a tad soggy), good thin-cut French fries, and three huge and delicious hush puppies. Overall, this was a very filling meal ($14.95+$3.00 for the beer+tax/tip). I'd go again.

I think some of the other reviewers are absolutely crazy! We are from out of town, actually I am from the Midwest, not just out of town, and we have been treated excellent the two times we have been there. Baton Rouge wasn't really on our route but our friend from New Orleans recommended The Chimes (he knows I love Cajun) so we thought we would stop. Their Seafood Gumbo is to DIE for. And the blackened alligator is fantastic! On top of all of the great food, laid back service (other people don't like this but guess what? It's a bar/pub type feel, not a dinner hall!)... Most importantly, we left my son's backpack under the table and I didn't realize it until we hit Pensacola.. Definitely too far to turn around! So we called The Chimes and they had it shipped to us!! Talk about going ABOVE and BEYOND! I've got to assume that the people who got poor service were RUDE and deserved it, because The Chimes went so far out of their way to help us out and they didn't need to! Thank you again!!!!!

Our family went to Chimes for the 1st time today for my husbands birthday, The food was average nothing to brag about. The service was HORRIBLE the waitress was not friendly nor the rest of the staff. The manager was not customer friendly either. That was our 1st and last time at Chimes...Very Very bad experience.

Love the food here and the fact that they serve you quick. The biggest problem that I have is I don't like the way the servers dress. Shorts, tank tops, flip flops, too casual. I would understand jeans but not shorts. Some frayed and cut. Nah, not professional for the type of crowd you service. It reminded me of Hooters, so you get my drift.

I LOVE the Chimes!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/09
Oh... The Chimes, how I miss your hush puppies and beer list!! I love the etouffee, the seafood pasta, the turkey croissant, the veggie burger, cheese fries... and my list could go on forever. This place is easily my all time favorite restaurant!

The food here is very good. My problem with The Chimes is the beer. They consistently serve beer that is just barely cool enough to be considered acceptable when it is served. Within a few minutes you have a big pint of tepid beer. If you like cold beer, go to The Bulldog.

I was trying to find a place for my rehersal dinner and I TRIED to talk to them and they were so rude, it was not a place that I would ever go to after that because the staffs attitude was so bad, let me better correct that the few people from the staff I actually talked to, I told all my friends and I wouldnt suggest them to anyone.

Absolutely the best restaurant in Baton Rouge...My sister lives in this city and when I visit...she doesn't even have to ask where I want to eat...The Chimes has a great atmosphere and the best shrimp, crabfingers, and oysters in the Southeast...great place to eat and socialize!!!
