We dined there Saturday night and I have to say it was a nightmare. The food was great but the service and length of time to get our food was horrible. I can get over how bad the whole experience was....its really ashamed because the view is so nice and the food is actually really good. Be preapred to wait a long time for your food along with poor service!!
Service was terrible. Ordered appetizer, salad, and entree, waited 30 minutes and had t o beg for salad at least, then everything came at once. i am eating my appetizer, salad and entree at the same time. there appeared to be someone from management cleaning tables the whole time i was there, she really needed to have her butt in the kitchen. appetizer was cold, other food was good.
The food isn't bad, but pricey and the river view is nice, however the manager and kitchen staff are extremely unaccomodating. I ordered the crawfish ettoufee over catfish dish from the lunch special and requested that that the catfish be grilled instead of fried. It was a great big ordeal as the waitress explained that the kitchen staff gets very irate(very rude and not my problem) when asked to make changes and that they probably won't do it. The waitress reluctanly went to ask and it was agreed they would grill the catfish, because the nice chef happened to be working. When I got my bill at the end of the meal, I was charged not the $9.95 from the lunch menu but $17.99 from the dinner menu, When I complained about not being told of the new price, I asked the waitress to have the manager come out and discuss it with me. The manager knocked off $4.00 and never had the courtesy to come out to the table to meet with me. I was so frustrated with the entire experience, I just paid the bill and left. I also want to mention the restaurant was practically empty except for 2 other diners, so it's not like I was making requests at a very busy time. My rating is based on a Poor Dining Experience; Poor customer Service! I own quite a bit of rental properties on the river, but live out of town. I will definitely recommend to all of my guests TO STAY AWAY from eating at Satterfields and to go to My Mama's across the street.
Recently we invited a group of friends to ride on our party barge and dine at Satterfield's. As a party of 6 one of our group did not receive her entree with the rest of us. We all waited to begin until it arrived. When it finally got to the table it was the wrong entree. Still we waited, not so patiently, Upon the insistence of one of the men, the manager did eventually send out a bowl of gumbo. At last the correct entree arrived, and it was charred. We were then told that it was the last one of that particular entree that they had. The manager came to the table to offer us free dessert. Really not at all professional. It really put a damper on the rest of our evening.
My family and i ate here over the holidays, and I was less than impressed to say the least. The spinach and artichoke dip ordered as an appitizer was served with regular old tostitos chips, the boudin balls were terrible, and that was just for starters. I ordered the seafood pasta dish that was so full of cheese and oil that i could barely eat it! My sister and her husband split the fish of the day topped with crabmeat, and they too were very dissapointed. My dad and his wife were in from alabama, and they each ordered the fried shrimp. They said it was just okay.
In conclusion, the menu items were way too expensive for what they are worth. I would NOT recommend this place at all!
I took my mother and a few other family members to Satterfields this past Mothers Day for lunch, and I can't wait to go back. The ambiance was amazing, especially with the scenic overlook of False River. Everything we had to eat (I tried them all) was marvelous, and the crawfish etouffee was just like Mamma used to make it. I would recommend Satterfield's to anyone looking for a peaceful meal that won't leave you disappointed.
