MA Mama's Kitchen, New Roads

This is a dining treat. The ambiance is only surpasted by the food. Ma Mama's is for those who love dinning. A short drive from the Baton Rouge CBD;it is well worth the trip.

This is an excellent restaurant, but there are some things they need to make clear. We went there for Valentine's day, and each ordered an entree. I asked what they came with and she told me a baked potato or your choice or a side dish. I said a baked potato was fine. When we got the bill, we were charged $2 more per entree because we chose a baked potato. I thought this was unfair. Overall, it's my favorite restaurant in the area, but we have to eatch every dime, and would just appreciate it if we knew this beforehand!

First of all, you can't beat the ambiance. Secondly, the food was awesome. I had the Chicken Pointe Coupee and my date had the Shrimp and Eggplant Casserole. Both items were delicious. I really had trouble deciding what to order. Can't wait to try other dishes. Our waitress, Angela, was superb. She was very personable and a pleasure to converse with. We will return often.

I had dinner here the other night and the service was just plain awful. We were stuck at a little (and I mean little) two person table pretty much in this door way. Right in front of where all the waiters and waitress need to walk to get to the bar and counter. The Chairs were so uncomfortable. You were lucky if your bottom actually fit in the chair. And the back of the chair, just as uncomfortable. We were pretty much ignored. We had to suck on ice if we were thirsty. No one ever came to check and see if we needed refills. And they constantly walked by us. You couldn't miss us. And we had to wave the waitress down to get the check. And that took nearly 10 mins. for her to go and get that. The atmosphere is nice and it is a very cozy looking place to eat. But, the service is just awful. They can't handle large crowds it seems. The wasn't that great either. But, it could have been better with better service.
