Lafayette food that is a tradition. I have eaten here since I was a small child. Great memories. My kids go with me now. They love the bean dip. I have never been to another mexican restraunt that puts bean dip on the table with the salsa. We are treated really great when we go. Great service! Great atmosphere! Great food! My dad loves the Tuna and fried chicken. I love the tacos. I love Lafonda's!!
If you want mexican food don't go here. This has got to be the worst food in Lafayette, LA. Tasteless garbage and the service was just as bad as the food. So to wash it all down I figured I'll order a margarita it was the size of a shot glass and expensive. The lines were out the door but whoo knows why it was aweful!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been a while since we ate here.
The waitress Katrina, didn't even know the size or price of the ribeyes. The margaritas were very different, not the old silky good but -- like low end.YUK!!!!
The steaks that used to be the best in town were so tough you would swear we ordered choice sirloin.
We had lot of trouble getting more chips and you would have thought we were trying to get their last bit of salsa.
Service was poor .
A total disappointment for such a great place.
WE HAVE BEEN HERE A LOT AND SPENT OVER $78.OO IT WAS AWFUL
I've been going to LaFonda since 1978, when I started college at USL (back when ULL was USL). It truly is a fun place to go with friends and family. I am not a marguerita drinker, however I always drink them when I go to LaFonda and they are terrific! I can never make up my mind what to order because they have so many wonderful dishes to choose from. I can't imagine Lafayette without LaFonda. Lee Bob Cox, the owner, is getting up in years and I just hope that he sells the place when it's time for his retirement. I would hate to see the day it closes. It really is a Lafayette tradition.
I've always loved the beef nachos, but recently tried the shrimp nachos and they too are very tasty. Also, the chicken salad stuffed avacados are wonderful!
these reviews about lafondas are accurate for the most part. their food is to die for and the service is always good. But as a former bar back who worked at LaFonda for nearly a year, I can assure you that these margaritas are NOT made with everclear. They are made with white tequilla (the cheapest stuff you can find) and triple sec (also the cheapest stuff you can find. The rest is lemon/lime juice made from equal amounts of frozen lemon juice and frozen lime juice (like the frozen oarnge juice in a can.) As for the actual measurements, I could tell you the exact recipe, for the right price!! just kidding, I would never give out their recipe.
I have been dining at La Fonda's for about 25 years now and the food is to die for. From the salsa and bean dip they bring you to start and all the entree's on the menu, it's a dining experience to remember. My favorite is the No.1 where you can enjoy all of the different taste statring with a taco to the Guacamole salad, then the enchalidas, tamale and rice and beans are delicious. My favorite dessert is the traditional flan, and don't forget the margarittas....excellent for sipping and enjoying your meal. –Brent Roy
At Lafondas, the food is great, the service is warming and the atmosphere is to die for. You can see teh many trasditions in teh face painted murals on the walls of the building. Our family goes every birthday, celebration, and just every other day. The food is fantabulous as well. It is a great place to meet, greet, and eat. The bar is also great too.
love the drinks, service, try the Fiesta! Brandy ice after dinner drink is to die for! Fried rabbit is good too! Enchiladas are great too!! Everything is good! Great experience! Will definitely go back!!!!!
