Prejean's Restaurant, Lafayette

I have been a resident of this area for over 30 years and have eaten in your restaurant many times. However, the experience I had yesterday @ lunch time will probably be my last visit. We waited 40 minutes to be served salad & gumbo. When the salad arrive, the greens were room temperature as were the fried/grilled seafood on the salad. For $75.00, I will drive to Lafayette for my $ s worth.

The food and service was wonderful. I look forward to going back. The food was well worth the money.

Usually GREAT food. Prices have gone up. Food quality has gone down. Went there Sat. Dec 10,2011 for my husbands birthday ( his favorite place ). It was 2 in the afternoon and not busy at all. We were seated immediately. It took almost 20 minutes for a waitress and 25 minutes to get 2 waters. A couple came in 15 minutes after us and they had their drinks at the same time as us and their orders were taken before ours by the same waitress!! The rest of the time she provided good service. Seafood mushrooms were great as usual. Fried seafood platter ( husband's ) tasted like they used really old grease and almost all the seafood was burnt. The stuffed potato that we subbed tasted like a twice baked potato in the frozen aisle at Walmart ( they are usually great also ). The french fries were soaked with grease and some tasted almost rotted. We have eaten at Prejean's plenty of times and it was always good. My husband's birthday meal was not all that he hoped and dreamed it would be as he would say lol. We are not the type to complain but if we do go back again and the food is the same as this time then we will return the food and refuse to pay for it. We really hope this was just a fluke....

My wife and I went this evening for a dinner out at 8:00 (They don't close till 9:30) Ordered the crawfish and shrimp platter. Our salads came out immediately. (No problem speedy service) Then came our gumbos. Then our platters. (All before we could finish the salads!!) Of course all our food sitting on the table it was cold by the time we got to it. Then came our bill! All within 30 minutes. They basically kicked us out of there before 9:00! So much for a nice dinner out with them rushing us the whole time! If you want a nice relaxing dinner you'd better go at least 2-3 hours before they close or they will boot you out the door! NEVER AGAIN!!!! Thanks Prejean's for treating your loyal customers so nasty!!! P.S. I totally agree with some of the other reviews here. Their food quality and quantity has depreciated over the years...The only thing that has increased is the prices!!!

Have eaten at Prejeans's for many years. Went there last week (2/27/10) and found their prices had increased substantially and the food quality seemed to slip. The waitress was very friendly and attentative.

Decided to take the family to Prejean's on a saturday night. We were a large party of 10 so we have to wait a short time to get the tables ready. The wait staff was friendly and responsive. Since our last visit, we noticed then menu's were shortened and the prices up avg $5 per main course entree item. Having been to Prejean's many times in the past 10 years, you always expect good, tasty food. We ordered our food and it was delivered in a timely manner. Our entire party was disappointed in all the dishes. We were not impressed and disappointed in the quality of the items. We will not be returning.

Ate there for lunch today. Ordered the Cajun rack of venison, it was delicious and ooooh it melted in my mouth. The side dishes were great to. Some of the other dishes seemed pretty pricey though, but then you're paying for the ambiance as well, which Prejean's definitly had. I wish I had came later when the live music was playing. But I'll be back!

Everything is fabulous. The breakfast is even great. My husband and I were surprised to pop in there for breakfast one Saturday morning to find three Cajun men playing and singing. The pancakes were exceptional. The eggplant pirogue is my favorite.

Passing thru Breaux Bridge for one night, Prejeans was recommended as the place to experience Cajun food at its best. We arrived there on a Monday night and the place was jumping. Good Cajun music added to the ambiance, and the food was as good or better than we expected. The wait staff was friendly, efficient and helpful, willing to answer questions about the menu and all things Cajun. If you've only got time to stop at one restaurant while passing thru as we were, we recommend Prejeans highly.

Prejean's chicken and sausage gumbo, that sort of says it all. No doubt the best I have ever tasted and I am a gumbo expert. Also the most friendly wait staff you will find in Acadaiana bar none. Now for the not so good news . . . after the aforementioned gumbo and a fried shrimp dish the rest of the menu is sort of boring. But the gumbo and the friendly wait-staff gets me to stop in every time I am in the area.
