Don's Seafood & Steak House, Lafayette

I have enjoyed this restaurant before, considered it as one of the best! Today we went to the downtown location. We were ignored by the hostess, we saw empty tables, but wait staff were in the lobby sitting on the benches, so we had to stand. The hostess became angry when we asked if it were be much longer. To thank us, she seated customers who came after us. When we complained, she invited us to leave. We did!! We drove to the other Don s, were immediately greeted by three employees, seated, and we re into our entrees in less time that we were in the lobby of the other location. We were planning on bringing our cliets there. NO WAY!! She was snappy, unorganized and rude! As much as we love the food, we will NEVER go back, and I am making a point to tell as many friends, clients, and strangers about the rude behavior we dealt with today!! This is my third posting in the restaurant s different sites. I am looking for more to warn people and will hit my Facebook site next! She was so rude, I was astonished! If she were my employee I would at least reprimand her. Horrible treatment and I hope her superiors read this and check their surveillance records!

Traveling thru on vacation thinking we would stop for a GOOD cajun meal boy were we wrong way over priced for what tasted like pre made food. Service was not that great either. Well at least I know where not to eat.

Well yesterday, they got my seafood salad right, but messed up on my husbands order. Giving it average because yesterday was the first time this resturant tried to pull such a stunt. The fact that I come here all the time, often by myself cause I am in downtown when I go to yoga or on my way to the park says that I very satisfied with this resturant. Lyle asked me where I wanted to go eat today, I said Don's downtown, because they have the most professional staff in Lafayette-well yesterday they fooled me! THEY ARE NOW STARTING TO GET THE WAITSTAFF THAT IS JUST LIKE THE ONES AT THEIR JOHNSTON STREET LOCATION, WHICH IS WHY WE DECIDED WE WERE GOING TO COME HERE FROM THEN ON OUT. I thought they would send the waitstaff to the one Johnston street for training, and then send them here after they got trained. THE ENTIRE STAFF YESTERDAY WAS JUST TOTALLY LOST OR SOMEWHERE ELSE. I ordered a seafood salad, which I was very pleased with. The only thing I wished more resturants would put put butter leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and spinach leaves in there salads, but the only way for me to get that is make it at home. They brought the wrong thing to Lyle yesterday, he did not order a shrimp and okra gumbo. He told the waiter, that is not what he ordered, the waiter stood there in a daz for a while, then he said he will go check in the back. Then the waiter came out and said they were out of what Lyle ordered, So Lyle told him they can just have the shrimp and okra gumbo back. The resturant took off the price for the gumbo they brought to Lyle. There was nothing mistaken about this. This resturant has more snap than this. I do not know what they were up to yesterday. They are main partners or friends with the University of Louisiana, and that entire university is no friend of mine. UL has more power to make or break their business, my once in a while visits is not any money to them. The most Lyle and I ever paid together was between 50.00-60.00 and UL books these parties bringing them thousands of dollars plus advertisements, so they are going to pull whatever UL puts them up to.

I have eaten at a lot of seafood places, this has to be the best, the service was on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 10, the food, hot & plenty of it, 6 Stars, it is now my favorite place to eat, well worth the prices and top notch service. Some places that are this fancy don't like Biker's comming in, but these folks treat you right.

MY FATHER AND I WENT TO DON'S FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR A MEETING AND THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! I WOULD LIKE TO COMPLIMENT MS. MICHELLE THAT WAS OUR WAITER ON AUGUST 15,2009 FOR HER GREAT HOSPITALITY. THANK YOU ALL!! I RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANY AND EVERYONE THAT WANT TO ENJOY A GREAT MEAL AND WONDERFUL PEOPLE!!! I RECOMMEND THAT YOU TRY THE SEAFOOD BOUQUET AND THE SEAFOOD PLATTER TO ALL THE SEAFOOD LOVERS OUT THERE!!!

Whats with these people complainin about serving portions. This is the best seafood restaurant on the planet incredible menu and the recipes are fabulous. They even sell a cookbook which actually has most of their recipes in it. But occasionally I want to sit back, have a few bourbon and waters, let them do the cookin and le bon temps rouler! I would be embarassed to be a waitress at your restaurant and serve people so little food for their money. Cajuns are big eaters and 1 small scoop of rice is not enough??? The food was ok but nothing special for your pricing. There are other places in Laf. to eat with much better food, not as pricey, and you are given enough food where you don't leave hungry without paying extra for more food to fill up. This is Cajun Country...Feed your customers so they will come back!!

I had the good fortune to be treated to a meal here. Half fried catfish, half fried shrimp. In addition to the food being fried perfectly and perfectly delicious, the service was very thoughtful and pleasing. Definitely recommend

I put 4 stars because it was good food but they charge way to much for the little bit of food you get. I cant believe they can get away with charging so much. My husband had the cajun catfish with crawish etouffee. It was 18.75 for a small piece of fish with little crawfish etouffe on top. My daughter had the crawish etouffe served over rice and it was 16.75 . It was good food but they charge way to much for little portions.
