You make the right choice when you walk in the door. Great food, great prices, great service the Dwyer family treats you like family. Best deal in town and now they are open at night. So you can eat breakfast, lunch and supper. This is a must when traveling in Acadiana!!!
Dwyers is definitely a great place. The establishment is clean, the employees friendly and the food is fantastic. I would have to compare it to Earl Ables in San Antonio. Old fashioned home cooked meals in generous portions. This was my first time, but will not be my last.
The vegetarian omlette for breakfast is a must. Biscuits are great. Lunch is cafeteria style home cooking or you can go a la carte. They put so much food on your plate, you cannot possibly eat it all. Well worth the trip downtown.
The #3 breakfast is my favorite. Saturday and Sunday mornings are some of the busiest mornings the waiter and waitresses are running around making small talk with all the regulars. It is a place that you can bring a group for a good inexpensive made to home cooked made to order meal.
I am totally nuts about Dwyer's. It is situated in a great location--downtown Lafayette, near cool night clubs and business alike. The food is good home cajun/creole cooking with the right amount of flavor laced with the secret to Louisiana cooking. You not only get a good value, price wise, you also get a great amount of food that will last you a few meals. Like I said, I love Dwyer's Cafe. I am sure anyone who tries it will also.
Bring a big appetite because you'll get plenty of food on the plate-lunch special. The food is absolutely terrific! The plate-lunch usually includes a selection from 2 - 3 different meats, 4 - 5 vegetables and dessert.
