Dwyer's Cafe, Lafayette

Decent diner food. Apparently inexperienced waitstaff. Don't expect fancy stuff. Reasonable value for a solid meal if you are willing to spend the time.

Dwyers is definitely a great place. The establishment is clean, the employees friendly and the food is fantastic. I would have to compare it to Earl Ables in San Antonio. Old fashioned home cooked meals in generous portions. This was my first time, but will not be my last.

Dwyers is the kind of place as a local, you want to keep secret. That's impossible as most locals consider them to be the ultimate comfort food in Lafayette. My mouth starts watering the second you get in line, and hear Mr. Mike running down the list of entree's available at his lunch counter. Rice and Gravy is a staple in SW La, and Dwyers has the best in town next to Mom. Friday is my favorite day to eat a Dwyers. Seafood Friday all year long! Shrimp Stew, Crawfish Fettucini, Fried Catfish, Seafood Casserole. Typically I get the shrimp stew, and a piece of catfish(its always so hard to choose)and potato salad. You cant go wrong here. Now that I've let the cat out the bag, its up to you to try Dwyers, if you haven't already!! You want regret it!!!

cheap good food. had breakfast and it was cheap, hot, and quick. cant ask for anything more!

I don't know who wrote the main review for Dwyers, but they missed the mark, entirely. Mark (no pun intended) has been a Lafayette institution..his shrimp in brown gravy over rice, sauce piquante's, pork and beef platters (with yams, black eye peas or fresh limas, great ice tea and wonderful service make this seemingly chaotic cafe a joy. Truck drivers and Cajun cowboys rub shoulders with lawyers and stockbrokers, making this an ideal place to savor Cajun culture, and get a taste of real Cajun food(not that pretentious haute cuisine stuff).

What can you say about a classic!!! FANTASTIC!!! The burgers are wonderful, the plate lunches great, and the breakfast is the best in town!

The #3 breakfast is my favorite. Saturday and Sunday mornings are some of the busiest mornings the waiter and waitresses are running around making small talk with all the regulars. It is a place that you can bring a group for a good inexpensive made to home cooked made to order meal.

Bring a big appetite because you'll get plenty of food on the plate-lunch special. The food is absolutely terrific! The plate-lunch usually includes a selection from 2 - 3 different meats, 4 - 5 vegetables and dessert.

The Hash Browns are in a league by themselves! The eggs were cooked to order and the Waitress was friendly! I'll be back, with my Babe this weekend! AAAIIIEEEEEEEEEE!

The whole experience is a must. I look forward to going each and every time. The plate lunches are awesome and the price, you just can't beat!
