A friend of mine and I rolled into Lafayette late one evening and asked the lady at the hotel's front desk (Red Roof Inn) where the nearest really good Cajun restaurant would be. Without hesitation she recommended Paul's Pirogue and gave us directions. We came in a little before closing time and asked whether the kitchen was still open and they said yes! Just a few of the locals were still hanging out. We ordered the crab etouffee and the crawfish etouffee. They came fresh and hot and perfectly seasoned. Through our travels all the way to New Orleans we both agreed this was the best meal we had on the trip (this includes Brennan's and Commander's Palace, no lie!) I fully recommend this little gem of a restaurant to anyone travelling through Cajun Country! Regards.... Dave
