Melvin's Restaurant, Houma

We love everything about Melvin's Restaurant, the environment is our kind of style. The location is perfect, by the water and away from noise. The food is excellent. Perfect for family gatherings and friends from abroad. It gives our guest a new perspective of good dining in Louisiana.

Melvin's is an excellent place to eat - beautiful views, always gorgeously decorated for holidays. Melvin is the Owner - not the Cook - so its ok that he's out socializing with the customers! Food is very good, nicely priced and a great place to take out of towners, especially for lunch.

Great food and atmosphere. Although the portions are a little small for the price that you pay I would highly recommend to anyone. You can dine inside or out on the dock! Really Nice!

The food was excellent, however why is the Cook Melvin always out in the front. when do he find time to cook???? always trying to chit chat with the customers....... so annoying. Look like he have too much time on his hand or perhaps L A Z Y!!!!

We went to Melvin's for Prom in 2009. The wait staff was alright, but the food was terrible and def. over priced. My boyfriend and I got the seafood platter for two and when we came out we were looking for the rest of it. It was so small that we both left hungry. The food was also not that great. The shrimps were small and didn't have a lot of flavor. Another person of our party ordered the gumbo and said it was "to thick and barely any seafood". Would not recommend it. The only good thing was the garden and the view of the bayou.

Overpriced for the dismal tasting food. Rude wait staff and owner. Other restaurants in Houma that serve far better food with far better courtesious service.

Not a good experience....worst seafood I've ever had. My dish was served lukewarm and when after complaining about it, the waitstaff became very rude and unfriendly. Others in my party had fried shrimp that was nothing but a tiny shrimp with a ton of breading. The Clam Chowder was "sandy" and lacking flavor as well as clams. Definately not worth the money. Experienced the same rude owner that another reviewer mentioned. I will not be going back.

Wonderful ambiance, inside and outside dining, great seafood dishes, watch the ships coast down the Industrial Canal as you sip your drinks, and be sure to check out the gardens (watch your step though)!! Can't wait to go back!!

Great atmosphere and tasty food, had my wedding there. 1 downfall- rude and unfriendly owner...make sure you can overlook that detail before having a wedding there
