Love going here whenever I'm in town, great atmosphere, waiters are always giving us good advice where to go in the city. My husband demands we go for the brisket!

This is one of the New Orleans classic restaurants. I had the boiled brisket with sauce and a side of new potatoes & spinach casserole. The meal comes with two breads and a small bowl of seafood gumbo. The portions for the tender and juicy beef were so enormous, I could not eat it all. The potatoes and beef were excellent. The casserole was okay, but it had a taste I'm not used to. Maybe not a bad taste, probably just that my taste for food is not mature enough. The gumbo was pretty good as well. Overall, this was $19.99 for a full meal (luncheon) with water to drink, and for the French Quarter, that's not bad. The bread was fantastic. I'd go back and recommend it to others. RJT

Truly A Tradition
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/07
The only thing to dislike about Tujaques is that they don't open until three in the afternoon. What is not to like? The food is both interesting and flavorful. As a confirmed gumbo cook, I have to say that their version is the best restaurant gumbo I have ever eaten! If Stephen (the owner) isn't too busy when you stop by in the afternoon, sit and visit with him for a few minutes. He is true gentleman and he'll also give you a personal story about any of the famous folks who's pictures line the walls of the dining room. Highly recommended!

The Garlic Chicken
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/07
This was my first trip to the city. Someone recommended I eat at Tujague's. It was great, I love the atmosphere. The food was so good, I decieded to eat there again the following night. This time I ate at the bar, didn't get the full meal, but ate this garlic chicken dish I had learned about the night before from some of the locals. It was great! loads of garlic.

a little below it's traditional excellence
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/07
I've always loved Tujaques but last visit was a bit disappointing. This was my first since Katrina and business may be down forcing cost cutting. It seemed the shrimp were frozen and the steak, which was of wonderful quality, was overcooked. Don't miss the bar! It's still worth the visit for the history and the brisket and I hope they were just having an off day.

a classic
By Jane, 9/4/05
there is nothing to dislike, it's New orleans cuisine at it's best. Loved the crawfish etouffe, the crab bisque, and the best beef brisket in the world. desserts are simple but done with care and explosively flavorful....the bread pussing is orgasmic ! the decor could use some sprucing up, the dining areas seem to have a little too much patina, that's not a complaint, just a fast living New Yorker's humble opinion... My wife and I are in love with Tujague's, it made th city an even better place to visit and eat in...

Don't Miss It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/05
I discovered Tujaques when I was a college student. A transplanted native suggested it. Now that I can afford to eat there more often, I never miss it when I am in town. It needs to be on everyone's must do list.
