Ralph & Kacoo's
Ralph & Kacoo's is located in the very heart of the French Quarter, on 519 Toulouse St, right off of Decatur. Our experienced chefs are dedicated to preparing each meal to the classic standard of Louisiana seafood that we've been serving since 1969.Our menu is world famous with popular favorites like Shrimp Beignets, and Blackened Gator. Our relaxed, family friendly atmosphere sets the stage for a great dining experience that's affordable, (Our kid's menu starts at only 3.99) friendly and fun! We cater to large parties and events, and we are the only restaurant in the French Quarter that can take in large groups of patrons. We can elegantly accommodate 700 people and we offer private party rooms for patrons looking to celebrate a wedding, graduation, birthday or other special event at no extra charge to the client.
The food is ok, slightly overpriced but ok, the kicker for me was the awful service. We were a party of 14, recent college graduates out for a friends bachelor party, separating the checks was an act of congress and then none of the bills were correct. Our waiter was obviously on drugs and refused to reprint the bills with the correct items, there was no manager present, it was a complete disaster. I ended up paying double what my bill was worth simply so I could get out of there and pray to never return. I don t even want to walk past that wretched hive if I can help it. I ve never felt so mistreated at any restaurant ever.
We just ate here in the New Orleans French Quarter. I can't think of anything bad to say about dinner. Our family of four had a sampling of several dishes offered and all were very satisfying. I had the Crawfish Festival and it was delicious. We liked their Garlic Sauce so much, we purchased a bottle to take home with us... and it was only $4.30. The restaurant was clean, our waiter was very nice, the food came out fast, hot and without mistakes. I always like to visit R&K when in The Big Easy.
I am not hard to please, but after my dining experince at the NO location, I had to comment. The service was great. But I've had better seafood at Captain D's. First, the hushpuppies were bland tasting. It tasted like the recipe consisted of cornmeal and water and nothing else. Next, the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail I ordered tasted as if they were old. Their texture was like rubber, and had a peculiar smell. The rest of the food on the fried seafood platter was also bland. I could barely distinguish between the catfish and the fried oyster. Lastly, for $35, I would expect excellent food. The server was sympathetic and reported my concern over the shrimp to the kitchen, but no one offered to adjust my check. I will never eat here again. Horrible.
I had dinner there last weekend and enjoyed my meal. The gulf shrimp were delicious and very sweet. I had the blackened shrimp which had great flavor. The portions of food were pretty large so I couldn't finish all the shrimp. The steamed vegetables were yummy. Overall the food and service was excellent. The only downside is the restrooms are not kept clean. I was suprised by that. I would eat there again.
The dinning room was dirty. Restrooms had significant oder. Oder at times in dinning room. Live mouse at my table. Needs overall face lift. Carpet needs replacing. Only five of so customers while we were there yet restrooms containers were full.
Ralph and Kacoos has always had the best seafood by far. Every time I travel to the South Eastern part of the United States, my family and I always stop at Ralph and Kacoos in New Orleans. We have been to Ralph and Kacoos 4 times already so far in August and have had nothing but great food and great service. My family and I usually stop in once a month. Everything from A-Z is impeccable. Everything inside the restaurant ia always clean, organized, and in tip-top shape. Whatever you decide to choose on the menu, you won't be disappointed. Everything is authentic, fresh and great tasting. I highly recommend Ralph and Kacoos to anyone and everyone. I cannont believe someone would have a bad experience like that guy posted. I think he should definitley give himself 2 thumbs down. I defintely give Ralph and Kacoos 2 thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!
We always stop at Ralph and Kacoos evey time we are in New Orleans. We were just in town for a friends party held at Ralph and Kacoos. Well we had a blast and the food and service was up to its usual 10. I now live out of state and don't have one close but sure wish I did, Keep up the good work guys.
Right after Katrina this was one the first places to open. The service, food and ambiance was great and thats what made me come back to this place. But on my recent and LAST visit, I was NOT HAPPY....Upon entering the restaurant their was trash everywhere and i had to wait around until i saw an employee and ask him about being seated. Then we waited for about 10 minutes before our server even approached the table. After the server took our order, I realize he didnt bring us hushpuppies! everytime i went there they always bring us hushpuppies Then, my husband ordered a med rare steak and it came out well done so we sent it back the steak to the kitchen and it came out RARE!...i ordered the fettucini dish and it looked liked it was slopped on a plate, the alfredo was a soupy mess and the shrimp wasnt even cooked all the way! and to top the evening off, the bathrooms was a total disgust and no hand towels or toilet paper...i wanted the manager to be aware of the problems going on...so i ask to speak to a manager but he was nowhere to be found! i was waiting for about 5 minutes and we gave up and told the hostess we would not ever be comin back and left....things were great a few months back but now service has declined, food is horrible, and cleanliness has become a total disappointment and i would highly not recommend this place to anyone! i'd rather go to denny's then this place.
WHEN NEW ORLEANS WAS HITTING THIS PLACE WHICH IS STILL OPEN IN THE QUARTERS WAS BANGING. THE SEAFOOD WAS ALWAYS ON POINT WEITHER IT WAS BAKED OR FRIED. I LOVE THEIR FROG LEGS. I NEVER HAD IT BEFORE THEN AND THEY WERE THE BOMB. THEY HAVE A SEAFOOD PLATTER WHICH HAS SHRIMP, FISH, OYSTERS, CRAB, AND FROG LEGS WITH FRIES FOR 11.99. YOU GUYS MUST CHECK IT OUT.
The seafood is the epitome of Louisiana cuisine. It's a must go, must stop, must taste for the discerning palate. It is best to visit on a weeknight, although the wait was not long on a Saturday evening before 6 p.m. We had a party of four and were seated in about 30 minutes I would say. I am always pleased with the service and the atmosphere.
The wine is very good too. Ask to see the wine list when you go.
