Rocks

Loved this place. I would love to know how the milk punch is made. Again, I love this place. Worth the wait. Petunias Restaurant is the best place to eat in New Orleans. Worth the wait and the milk punch was to die for. If you are in a hurry, don't bother go to McDonalds. This place rocks!

Wonderful food and staff!
By happy customer, 7/20/09
My brother loves this place and is always telling me that I must go there while in New Orleans. I finally had the opportunity during Tulane's graduation weekend. Our party of 8 was very happy that the other restaurant that they originally wanted to visit could not accommodate our party. Portions were more than ample, hot, delicious and well priced. The shrimp dishes are to die for and the bread pudding was devine. My only regret is not ordering more to go and not living closer to New Orleans.

I heart Petunias

Just because stars eat there doesn't mean the food is good but the last time I was there Reese Witherspoon was at the next table. Great crepes, great french toast but you better make reservations or you'll never get in. A fun choice in NOLA.

We stopped in for dinner on a recent visit to New Orleans. The waiters were rude and slow. My husband and I ordered the Prime Rib. It was the worst cut of meat I was ever served! A couple at a nearby table had the same experience. Never again! We should have walked a little further for decent food.

I've been there twice for breakfast in the past 8 weeks. The first time I went, the line outside was down the block (saturday morning). When we finally got in I got the french toast and my wife got a dish called "Mama's ....something" I can't remember. She also got a bloody mary. that was the best french toast I've ever had....ever. And that was the first bloody mary I've ever had, pretty good actually. Gives you a serious kick in the rear that early in the morning. The second time I went with a coworker on a wednesday morning. No line. They actually opened up early for us. food was great again and we actually got to talk to the people who worked there as opposed to the first time I went when they were slammed busy. Overall, they are cool folks, and they make some GOOD eats for breakfast. The "locals" that hang on the streets and harass you as you try to get somewhere...not so cool. Same goes for the transplants who live there now, call themselves "local" and have an attitude towards those of us who come to spend money in that town. You should really go back to where you came from. Let New Orleans be.

One star is too many. I am a local and was utterly ashamed when I took some friends visiting from out of town into petunias. The behavior of the wait staff was so abusive and rude we did not even make it to the table before we walked out. I will never again step foot into this establishment, and will now forever view it as a culinary blight in this city. With so many amazing restraunts in this city do not waste your time or money on this sham of an establishment, the crepes are not even that good.

We ate breakfast at Petunias, being that it was in close proximity to our hotel. The food was mediocre, at best. The best part of the meal were the hashbrown potatoes. The light onion flavor really accented the natural taste of the potato; it was a nice perk. The dining room, while it appeared clean on a quick glance over, was not. There was a rat trap, spotted by my nephew, behind a bench at a corner table. There were rat droppings around the fireplace, as well. I don't think we'll be back to Petunias, on any future visits to New Orleans.

I have been to Petunia's many times over the past few years and was always very satisfied with the food and the service. On my latest trip to New Orleans I was very disappointed. They have added Prime Rib to their menu. This was served with so much fat and when I finally got through that the meat was tough. When I sent this back and stated that I didn't want anything else the waiter was very courtious but the manager came out and actually argued with me that I had to have something else. This took place in the middle of the dining room in front of other diners who actually said that this behavior made them uncomfortable. I will never go back to Petunias and have relayed this incident to others that I had previously recommended this restaurant.
