Went the morning of the National Championship game, about 11 a.m. The restaraunt was mostly empty when we got there, but filled up very quickly. My wife and I got the BBQ shrimp and it was possibly the best we have ever eaten. I got the shrimp poboy and my wife the shrimp bisque and the pizza. My wife said her meal was one of the best ever. The poboy was good too. Good and friendly service. Amazing how quickly they got busy. My wife and I have heard wonderful things about Deanie's, but never went. I am glad we went and will definitely make a return trip.
Deanie's was recommened from an employee at Spa Atlantis. This restaurant was absolutely amazing!!!! Service was awesome and WOW the food was so so so good. Nice and fresh and tasty coming from Lafayette,La this food was really good. Thank yall so much for making our visit in New Orleans memorable and enjoyable.
Me and my friends came to new orleans for the weekend and our hotel recommended deanie's for lunch. instead of complimentary rolls they bring you red potatoes that have been boiled in like a crawfish broil with butter they were great!. had the cup of gumbo for starter soup it was really great. nice flavor. for my entree i ate the crawfish etouffe which was amazing! my friend had the crab au gratin that was also very scrumptious! Great food and great service people were very friendly
I had the half seafood platter, I have lived on the Gulf Coast for most of my adult life and have been in Florida for 12 years and I love to eat, but let me tell ya, this was some ot the best fried seafood i have ever had and more than I could eat. Not a bad price and great food, and some of the nicest folks you will ever meet. I will be back.
Arrived July 25, 2010, Stayed in the French Quarter for a week. On our second day there, my family and I walked, by choice, about 14 blocks to Deanie's on Iberville only to be told that we could not be seated because my spouse had on a sleeveless shirt (not a muscle shirt, but without sleeves). We had read the restaurant info we received--nothing about males and sleeveless shirts denied seating. In a tourist city, in the high 90's, what would one expect in attire. Of all our travels, we have never, ever encountered such foolishness. Needless, to say, we did not eat there and will not eat there. I will also not recommend it. We walked all over the Quarter to Canal St and back on several days that week with no problems. Visited many places and ate at many restaurants, without a problem. This was indeed a very bad experience for us. I will return to New Orleans some day but not Deanies.
Let me just say that Deanie's is the best place for seafood in New Orleans. I've been to the Lakeview location several times and everything is always fresh and the staff are prompt. Even at rush hour the food comes out quickly. The Seafood Platter can easily feed 8 people! OMG the Crawfish balls are amazing, as well.
i have been eating at deanies in bucktown for 3 years now and did not have any complaints until today. i went there with a friend and the service was bad. Our waitress Tanya could not be found after she first gave us our drinks. she did not tell us her name. we had to ask other waiters and waitress to fill our drinks and the cooks had to bring us our food. when we finally saw her i asked her for a dessert menu which she did not bring after 15 minutes. then i asked her for it again and she said she had to get someone else drinks. so then the hostess ended up bringing us a dessert menu then Tanya decided to act concerned when she bought us the bill. and looked at my friend as it scratched out the space where a tip is suppose to go and asked him what was wrong with his service. i told her that she could not be found and that we shouldn't have to ask her co workers for things and then she laughed at me and we left. food has always been good at deanies but when you go there make sure Tanya is not your waitress.
First things first, I visited the location in the French Quarter, not the one in Bucktown.
I am a portion person and they delivered. If you ever been to Copeland's the ambiance is much like it. Excellent waitress, food was hot and fresh, silverware was actually clean, service was very prompt.
I had the crawfish etouffee, that was pretty good - but a friend ordered the stuff shrimp and my mouth was in amazement of the balance of spice and richness!
The Jumbo Seafood platter is something a table of 6 could split if they wanted to.
I highly recommend if you are in New Orleans and want to try some of their seafood cuisine, this place delivers well!
I was very happy and will make a effort to go again when I go back down!
