We were traveling cross country and wanted to grab a decent dinner before heading to our motel. I can't really comment on the food and service at this Applebee's because we were never seated. We arrived about 7:20 on a Monday night and waited 20 minutes before we left. It seemed like every teen-ager in North Platte was there. Nothing against teen-agers, but that's not the kind of raucous atmosphere we were looking for.
As far as I am concerned, Applebees has a great happy hour menu which is good on the pocket book. The service is actually very good despite what ada.195 has stated. It is because of the great service and the atmosphere that Applebees of North Platte is one of the busiest restaurants in town.
The staff are friendly and willing to help out if there is a problem with an order. They also are very personable with the patrons.
As a treat, my husband and I like to have dinner out once in awhile. Going to Applebee's is'nt something we really consider a treat. As far as the food goes, it's not too bad, depending on what you order. I'm a steak gal, and thats usually what I order. They have a decent variety to choose from in all types and prices. They have decent drinks( I recommend the Perfect Margarita). But, as far as atmosphere and service goes, Im afraid they are lacking horribly. On most occasions that we have gone there has been a line. And once you finally get seated, you are thrown in with what seems like a million other starving patrons. The tables are way too close for comfort and there is no such thing as having a conversation, especially one that is not heard by the 50 other people sitting up against you. Then, after waiting 30 minutes just to see a waitress for drinks, you get to wait another 20 or 30 to order. Finally you might get your food a good hour and a half after arriving, and hopefully it will be right, because you sure dont want to wait for them to fix it. The servers all run around like theyre not sure what they are doing and you see a few people that resemble the managers standing about barking at the waitresses. (as if that is going to help) All in all, our experiences havent been great. I think we've only gone once that we had a half-way decent experience. I would'nt recommend it if you're in a hurry, but only if you're in the mood for an adventure.
We had the miss fortune of eatting an early meal at applebees on 12/31/04 the service was terrible the food was way to long in coming, the place was over crouded and a 3 yr old screamed constantly behind us, the waitress oferd us a special w/ a discout coupon for our next visit we never got,and yes we tipped her. we have a new name for this place but as good cristians i wont type it, would i eat here agin??? would i let my dog eat here??? hmmm nope not even if it was free, something bad in the neiborhood , whisky creek from now on, too sad we really needed an upscale chow house and applebees is so not not not it~duck duck yuck yuck, And this place will never never be a choice again~
