My recent trip to US and the Tandoor chicken at Tandoor Indian Cuisine brought back the fresh memories of my stay in India. It is a great restaurant to dine with your friends and friend in a cosy and hospitable atmosphere home away from home.

Terrible experience. I LOVE Indian food and have been to a good two dozen Indian restaurants around the country... but this one was beyond disappointing. First off, the Holiday Inn we were staying at had a coupon for 20% off when you show your key card... which they did not honor when we arrived to pick up our order. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, two orders of Naan and some salads. The amount of food we got was pitiful. The two ORDERS of Naan ended up being two PIECES of Naan, the salads were miniscule, and most importantly, the food was TERRIBLE. I have NEVER, NEVER, NEVER had Chicken Tikka Masala that tasted like this. Truth be told, if I hadn't ordered that, I wouldn't have known it WAS Chicken Tikka Masala! It had the color of the dish, but a huge amount of it was pureed onion and it wasn't creamy in the slightest bit, and the flavor of the Masala was non-existent. Really, really terrible! Even the rice was bland compared to all the other Indian food restaurants I've been to, with very little spice. I was very annoyed to have spent 35.00 on two meals with what we received.
The only thing positive is that my husband said that the restaurant was cute when he picked up the food.
I wonder too, at the 5 star reviews... none of the other reviewers have reviews for other restaurants (other than one who beats up the other Indian food in Lincoln) and it makes me wonder if they are planted. I just can't imagine others ranting about a restaurant's food when they can't even get a basic dish even 25% close to what the standard is elsewhere. Heck, I've made chicken tikka masala myself at home and I'm Irish and German... and even mine is better (although not as good as what you can get at a restaurant)!!
Most people in Lincoln are familiar with the Oven, mostly because on its prime Haymarket location, but you are truly missing out if you do not try the Tandoor.
Don't get me wrong, the Oven is good food, however, Tandoor just does it better. The breads, soup, and entrees are simply more flavorful and plentiful. If you like Indian food, you owe it yourself to try the Tandoor. You will not be disappointed.
