Big Fred's Restaurant & Lounge
Pizza is made only one way at this joint: a thin, hand-tossed crust, a touch of tomato, plenty of cheese and your favorite toppings. Pasta and meatballs are another favorite here. The menu also features sandwiches and prime rib, along with salad covered in Fred's own Italian dressing. Sports fans can follow the day's events on televisions scattered throughout the restaurant, while a full-service bar quenches their thirst. Be prepared for a wait on Friday and Saturday evenings.
We ordered a sausage and cheese pizza. The pizza had a ton of cheese on it. Ordinarily, I don't mind a lot of cheese, but you figure out quickly that it is the only ingredient they use. There is no spices allowed on this pizza, apparently. It was bland.
I have lived all over the world and had pizza in just about every country. Although each pizza does have it's own regional taste and style, if you're looking for an honest, basic homestyle pizza; you won't find one any better than Big Fred's! I grew up in Omaha as a kid, and it was always a special treat to go to Big Fred's on a Friday night after a high school football game, or even a Saturday afternoon to relax and watch the Huskers play. Big Fred's is an Omaha icon. I now live in California, but when my travels take me back through Omaha, it's guaranteed that I will be at Big Fred's within an hour of my arrival into town.
They have authentic New York style pizza. Their pizza is awesome, their appetizers are good. The pasta is OK. The service is great. If you are in the mood for great pizza, this place I would recommend. I would say if you're in a casual mood and don't mind eating in a sports oriented eatery, then it's a good place for eating at. I would say they have the best pizza in Omaha if not then one of the best at the very least. If you're anywhere near 120th and Pacific or Regency or interstate 680 highway and Pacific street exit and you want good food, stop in order takeout if you want the best takeout pizza. It's located about 1 block east of 120th street at Pacific street on south side of Pacific street. I've been there several times and I would go again next time I'm in that area of Omaha(unfortunately it's a little over a mile from someone who hurt me though so I probably won't make it out there much though).
AWESOME PIZZA! Great pasta and appetizers! Great value too! Mid town location. The only drawback is you could wait for hours to be seated and/or pick up carry-out on weekend nights! But hey, I've waited more times than I can count and since their IS a wait - you know it's good! The hours are awesome too! They serve full menu until midnight!
This comfortable midtown drinking spot is known for pouring a stiff cocktail. Friendly bartenders, comfy chairs and a great jukebox
