Only place for steak in Steak Country!
Born & raised here, I'd never heard of the Drover, but a friend who came to town on business from Florida invited us and we've been loyal customers ever since. Because of the pricing, we don't get there often, but save it for special occasions only. :(
The whiskey filet has always been perfectly cooked, as well as any other cut ordered by our party. The chicken was great, too, but I keep going back for the filet. Everyone loves the large shrimp, too. The salad bar is not spectacular, but will do. At least, the items are fresh and the lettuce not browning. The bread is hot and fresh and always a big hit. They'll just keep bringing more, if you want, (and if you have room for it). The baked potatoes are HUGE, but always fluffy, tasty and hot.
The staff has always been very friendly, whether it's just 4 of us or a whole party. They've been very nice to the kids with us, too. It would be a total waste to have to order separately for the kids, when you're given so much that they can have a complete meal from your plate, too, and for the little ones, we've just asked for a separate plate and the staff has never had a problem doing that.
None of us are drinkers, so can't comment on that.
One draw-back is that their restroom is located down a flight of stairs. One person with us this summer has back problems and had a hard time navigating the steps, but said the wonderful dinner made up for it!
The lighting is rather low, but the quality of the food and service is fantastic!
