Zio's New York Style Pizzeria

Description

Zio's offers thin, hand-tossed, New York-style pizza with piles of fresh toppings. Think of the most unorthodox pizza topping combinations and the people at Zio's will probably be able to make it for you. Pizza can be ordered by the whole pie or by the slice. This casual pizzeria also offers calzones, submarine sandwiches, pasta and salad.

Not what it used to be.Years back the pies were light, fresh and easily separated from the crowd of franchise pizza factories. Large selection but the quality is so inconsistent as to have you placing bets about whether you will be happy or disappointed.

3 times bad bad bad
By Mark M., 2/16/09
Been there three times in the past 4 years and every time the pizza was bad. One of the time it even made me sick. Service was good but who cares when the pizza is bad. My wife shares my sentiments. Won't be back.

Will not go back
I ordered shrimp pasta and a slice. From the menu there is no sauce listed with the Pasta so I asked for Shrimp Alfredo. The slice comes out with my wife's food 15 minutes before the pasta. I wanted to have some of each and take some home. But instead as I finish my slice the guy comes out with a bland plate of pasta with now sauce. Killed my night. I'm not going back.

Great Pizza
By Edgy Reggie, 8/14/08
My family and i were in omaha on 08-08-08 , we went to zios pizzaria on the 9th. Absolutly the best pizza i have had in a long time, the service was not the greatest but it was by far not the worst. I am a chef and i really enjoyed the all natural sauce and hormone free meat that they use. Some people may not enjoy the taste because they are used to that crap from other national pizza chains. Keep doing what you are doing zios , and whenever we come from Kansas City we will stop in ,thanx. The Walkers

The customer is always wrong...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/08
Ordered a pizza for carryout from the 132nd and Center store and discovered some of the toppings were missing. Called and spoke with "John" (manager) and was told the cooks informed him the pizza was made correctly. After several rounds of bantering back and forth and insinuations that I was "lying", I gave up. What happened to the concept of keeping the customer happy?! There are plenty of other pizza choices in town and Zio's just lost a formally loyal customer!

And the Beat Goes On ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/08
My wife and I dropped into the Zio's near 132nd and West Center. We generally enjoy the pizza but both became annoyed with the selection and volume of the music being played. So, I went to their web site thinking I would just pose this question to management: "Is any thought given to the selection and volume level of music and how it might affect the customers." Interesting enough, their web site did not offer any way to contact them or make a direct comment to management. As for the music, I got the impression the younger set "staff" had selected the music and volume for their entertainment and could care less what the customers might think. As I looked at some of the other reviews at this site I had to agree, the service staff does not seem very professional and I am wondering how long it will take management to figure it out.

Crummy Service!!! Food ???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/07
My wife and I have wanted to try Zio's for years. Today we had our chance. The restaurant (78th & Dodge) was not real busy. The server dropped off menus and said she'd be right back for our order. She returned and asked for drink orders, said she would return to take our order. SHe dropped off our drinks, said she would return for our order. Sorry, three strikes and you're out. We went to Big Fred's --- and as always --- it was exceptional!!!

Bland/ overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/07
Stopped in here the other day and got a slice of pizza, the cheese was thin and bland, the sauce had no kick & tasted like grocerie store oven sauce, the dough tasted like cardboard & was unusually hard. I've had calzones here and they are much better than the pizza. They call this NY pizza? HA!!! what a joke, go to big freds

Good Food, Rude Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/07
I am generally happy with the pizza we've gotten at Zio's, but the service is becoming predictably bad. I don't even set foot in the actual restaurants anymore and had a terrible experience with a phone order today. The staff in these restaurants (Downtown and West Omaha) act as if they are doing you a favor to take your order. I guess avoiding the staff is no longer enough - we won't be patronizing this business anymore.

Gormet Waiting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/1/06
This review is for the "Downtown" or "Old Market" area Zios. I go there a lot for pizza, and I love their pizza. The service is absolutly horrible... At a with no one in line and maybe 2 tables occupied, practically every table is dirty with plates still strewn upon them. The cooks are very good, but the cashiers and the wait staff are sophmoric at best, only cleaning off a table as new customer needs on. A few times they didnt even wipe my table off. I hope that Zios stays around forever however I hope it's owners begin to understand that a good employee and clean enviroment makes for better business.
