The good, the bad, the ugly. The good was the quaint Old Market charm, street parking, old-world atmosphere. The bad was the lukewarm, tap-water hot tea, the undercooked chunks of vegetables in my korma, the ridiculously overpriced Valentines Day menu, and the timid waitress. The ugly was the tablecloth, after the waitress dumped my plate of food on it. Save money and your frustration and go to the other Indian restaurants in Omaha, as I was planning to do but due to it being a holiday were closed

Indian Oven is in the Old Market
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/09
The first time I went was for my birthday and had a great time. The menu is great. I love spicy food and usually have to request to make it more spicy. They got it right the first time. The breads are great and so are the yogart drinks.

Indian Oven is Well Worth it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/09
When I have read some of the bad reviews regarding Indian Oven, I was quite honestly surprised. I have been going to Indian Oven since 1981. I usually visit restaraunt at least once a month during dinner or lunch. This is not fast food dining experience but to actually take your time to enjoy your meal. One time I remember I didn't get actually what I ordered; however, once I notified the wait staff it was fixed immediately. The main Chef Grin is very personable and will make sure your needs are taken care of. I will continue to be a loyal customer to Indian Oven.

crave this place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/7/08
I live in WI, but have family in the Omaha area - I require we eat at Indian Oven at least once when I visit. The staff is friendly, great little spot downtown & the food is something I crave when I go home. Try the sampler - I love the little silver dishes of delight w/ the fabulous bread!!!

This restaurent food taste is awful as it lacks authentic indian flavor, also not food is not served fresh and add to it it is ridiculously over priced. In general Omaha got no good indian restaurents, but others definately fare well compared to this one. Other indian restaurents tastes lot better once you have food here :-).

I've had the worst experience of my life with Indian oven. I ordered some food to-go and when i got home i realized they missed couple items. I called and they didnt offer any apologies but said i can come pick it up. For two orders of garlic naan, i didnt want to drive 10 mile, so I asked if they can give me refund for the two naan orders. They said they will refund back to my card but two weeks passed by and i didnt see any refunds. I knew they cant refund back because they dont have my complete card number. (I work for a bank and know exactly how it works). The woman "Theresa" who claims to be the restaurant manager is unprofessional and rude. I called back 2 weeks later and she insisted that she refunded back to my card. But it never showed up in my bank account. She was so rude and she accused me of lying, but when i said i work for a bank and know how it works, she said she will double check and call me back but to this day I never heard from her. What a service!! The worst place to go and eat unless you want a third class service from some inexperienced, unprofessional and dishonest person like Theresa. If the prices were lower, it is understandable but obviously, in this restaurant, you dont get what you pay for. I recommend other indian restaurants like the TAJ, whose food is not just GREAT, but their service is beyond words. TAJ offers the best indian dishes with affordable prices. I dont normally write reviews but the type of service I got from the Indian oven was intolerable and I really dont want anyone to experience what I had experienced.

The worst Indian food I ever had.The food is cooked by Mexican/American people who don't even know the ABC of Indian recipies.Desis should never think of going there. The service is also very bad.It is more expansive as compared to other indian restaurents. They even charge for pickle which is not like any other indian restaurents.

Best Indian Food Downtown
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/08
This is the best Indian restaurant in the downtown Omaha area. They can get spicy so if you don't like that, you should order it mild. The waiters are among the best I've seen at introducing you to the menu and explaining the cuisine if you're not familiar with it.
