Horrible. We went as a group and all ordered several different dishes in hoping to just do it in an asian family style and eat. Once we got our plates we started right in as we were all hungry. The dishes we ordered were: Chicken Lo Mein Boneless Chicken Orange Chicken Beef Peppersteak Fried Dumpling Short ribs It did take a little bit for the food to come out BUT we were okay with this as our group was fairly large. It was to be expected and the waitress and staff were friendly. We got our drinks and bread (which is just regular white sandwich sliced bread) and waited for our food. The serving of the food was nice and in fairly good portions (Dishes were around 7-10 bucks). We all dug right in and started to eat and that was when we found out that every dish minus 1 main dish tasted all the same. The Lo Mein, boneless chicken, and pepper steak had the same sauce flavoring. The sauce wasn't that good to begin with and all 3 of those plates were smothered in it. The lo mein dish didn't even have much lo mein in the dish; it was nearly 1/2 bean sprouts almost like it was substituted for the noodles. But those 3 dishes tasted nearly identical to each other minus the only real difference was the texture of the ingredients used in the dish. The only real high light was the orange chicken which had good flavor and was kind of crunchy from the fried skin of the chicken pieces. Paying for the food at the register in front was kind of slow and often long while we waited to pay for our own food. I would highly suggest going elsewhere for food if hungry for Chinese.

I agree with others who have said this is the best Chinese food in town, and I'm not biased against chain restaurants. I don't care if a place is family-owned or not...I just want good food. The Hong Kong isn't a yuppie mecca like P.F. Chang's, and isn't another crappy buffet clone. I've been eating at The Hong Kong (formerly Ming's) for nearly 40 years, and have never had a bad meal. Not one! Try the sweet and sour baby drumsticks!

I tried editing this listing, but it didn't seem to take. The web address listed is for a restaurant in Boston.

Great Cinammon Rolls!

I've eaten at Hong Kong ever since I was a little kid. They don't have much in the way of vegetarian entrees, but they do make a mean veggie lo-mein. The staff is always friendly, and while you're waiting for your food you get bread and butter. Sure, it's sliced bread, but it's nice have something to much on while you're waiting for your food. I'd recommend Hong Kong to anyone wanting a good Cantonese restaurant.

I read the great review on the hong kong restaurant so we decided to try it. we were very disappointed. The sweet & sour sauce was great, but the battered meats were very dry, and the batter was very thick. The shrimp on the batter shrimp was non existent. The lavor of the stir fry was not flavorful and the combination fried rice appeared to be old. it was not a good experience.

Sure, there are the bigger chains of Chinese restaurants out there that look a little nicer on the inside, but for that traditional mom and pop owned business, no one even comes close. You can taste the love and care that goes into the food and be greeted by friendly faces everday from the staff. This atmosphere only comes from locally owned businesses that haven't sold out to big corporate chains. Entrees are delicious and the portions are HUGE. You get your money's worth here. There is also a selection of staple American dishes for those faint at heart with Chinese cuisine. But you really can't go wrong with anything at Hong Kong!

I have mixed feelings about this resturant. I ordered one of their meals, which started with a salad with a package of Kraft dressing and bread that clearly came out of a bag. I wasn't too hopeful at that point. Then they served the crab rangoon and won ton soup that were excellent. Beautifully presented and delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was also very good. It was kind of cheap roadside diner meets good chinese restaurant. The decor was ok, but the only "chinese style" decorations were a few paper lanterns and small pictures on the wall. The salad and bread were an insult to the chef. They should do a asian themed salad with a homemade ginger dressing and no american style bread or just leave it off all together.
