The real thing. An original, working soda fountain with real phosphate sodas, lots of food for your money, marble counter and stools, old ice chest, vintage photos of Wichita from old west days and the service is absolutely the BEST! We are very proud to have a place like this in Wichita!

When you walk in it smells like a stale grease and the air is stagnant and stale. I wanted to order a burger and fries, but there is not one on their menu. Seems odd, burgers and fries are a staple of soda fountains/diners. Since I wasn't feeling an $8 turkey sandwich, we bailed. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was odd.

When visiting Wichita from Austin, TX, this shop is our destination. Fine tasty food, well managed. I am a native Wichitan and never visited in my younger years for which I am very sorry. The Old Mill is definitely recommended. Jim Dunbar, 1903 Winter Park Road, Austin, TX 78746-7623

Old Fashioned Fun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/14/08
This place has been in business for decades and still has the old fashioned soda fountain--they even mix the sodas like in the old days! Best place ever to go for a malted milk shake but all their ice cream confections are great. I'm never disappointed with the food or service--friendly and old fashioned. They get really busy at noon and it's a small place so you might have to wait on a table. I like to go around 1 or 2 when it's a little quieter. Always ask what their special is b/c it's the fastest way to get your food (not that you'll ever wait too long) and it's always good. They serve home cooked meals (like meatloaf and mashed potatoes), soups, salads and sandwiches. They close at 3, like most of the old town restaurants.

Wonderful Food and Atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/07
A good friend invited me to lunch one day to the Old Mill Tasty Shop, she knows the owner. It is great food and wonderful service. We started making it our place for lunch about once a month. Everything is made fresh. The carrot cake is "to die for". Everyone should try it.

Saturday breakfasts
By calvin, 6/1/07
Alright... I have never ate lunch at this place so I really cant comment on the snadwiches... All I know is that on saturday mornings they have the best breakfast in town! If you love bisquits and gravy, go there some saturday morning... I promise you, you wont be disappointed. I worked at a hotel for quite some time and if anybody ever asked me where to get breakfast on saturdays, I would go out of my way to explain how to get over there to them. They might serve breakfast on other days, im not sure... but saturday is about the only day i ever get out for breakfast... anyway...

Can't Be Beat For Lunch!
By Ronald, 5/7/06
If you want to step back in time, head for The Old Mill Tasty Shop. The soda fountain can make anything you remember and the sandwiches are "top drawer". One of the best places in town for a lesiurely lunch.

Best Chicken Salad Club EVER!!
By Jason, 1/17/06
We read an article that the Tasty Mill may be closing because of the new downtown arena. Had never eatin there before so I thought I should check it out before it was gone. IT WAS AWESOME!! Luckily it was saved, isn't being torn down and now I go once a week! GREAT FOOD!
