We always go for the dim sum there because it's one of two places you can get dim sum at in Kansas, but I have had better in San Francisco. Someone said they serve the best Chinese food but I know the owners and I alway see them eat Chinese food at Jen Jen's that's located across the street, that should tell you how much they like of their own food.
I'm shocked that there are any negative reviews for Bo Ling's. It is in the upper end for Chinese food prices, but there is good reason for this. I have lived in KC all of my life and they have the best Chinese food around. They use fresh ingredients, which may take more time and cost a little more. Because it is a street or two off the Plaza, it is not packed as the boring chain restaurants are that sit right on the Plaza. You can usually get seated immediately even on the weekends. A friend of mine is Asian and this is one of the only places he frequents for authentic Chinese. They recently added a chef who specialized in creative Chinese dishes and vegetarian selections. If you want great Chinese, a $1 or two more isn't a big deal. They've also added a wider variety of teas, including bubble tea.
Rated top 10 of Chinese places in the
United States by USA Today, Bo Ling's is the best Chinese I have ever had. I am a regular at this restaraunt, and I have a great experience everytime. The waiters are wonderful, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is great, especially for the price range it is in (around $6-10 per entree).
No matter how many times I visit Bo Ling's, I leave with the same experience. Wonderful food, great services, and a warm ambience. If good Chinese food is what you really want, and aren't afraid to pay a little more than a fast food version - then you are in for a real treat...you may find the others no longer compare.
