Most people come for the pizza and standard Italian foods, but there is a great restaurant hiding in this old bank building. The chef does a marvelous job on more complex dishes. Share an olive appetizer to start. The chorizo stuffed dates come with greens and make an outstanding and different salad. Lamb shank is meaty and very well prepared in the Basque fashion. Spinach ravioli proved tasty by itself but the creamy sauce was a wonder. Tellers is probably the best place to eat in Lawrence and they have something for every budget. However, the wine list is thin and the servers are mostly students unfamiliar with both wines and real foods. So 5 stars for the chef, 4 for the restaurant, and 3.5 for the service.

Good Choice

Ate here when I was passing through. Enjoyed the old bank look and the food. The desserts were really good.

The food is not that great and the service is rotton. I have had dinner and brunch there. Everytime there is always something wrong. I will never go there again. Servers don't know the menu like they should. Brunch was like eating dried up food that had been sitting for hous under a heat lamp. I don't see how they stay in business.

Very good and historic restaurant. Expensive for dinner but a great value for lunch.

I'll start with the good points: The house salad is one of the best I have ever had. Great combination of flavors. Also, my Goat Cheese and Parsnip Ravioli with Rabbit was excellent, presenting a complex combination of flavors. It was a bit on the salty side, but most rabbit is soaked in brine prior to cooking, so I was not too suprised. Loved my meal, but...... Now the bad news: My wife's Spinach Ravioli was chewy and thin. My friends both did not like their food either, as it was overcooked and the portions were very small. The Alaskan Sea Bass was more like a thin filet of Talapia and the Seafood Canaloni looked like it had been under a warmer since the lunch rush. Not impressed with the food for the price. Love the atmosphere and our waitress was adorable, but there are better places to eat in Lawrence. I am going to stick with Mariscos and keep Teller's as my dinner and appetizer spot before activites in Downtown Lawrence.

Nice experience, best during happy hour
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/08
Teller's is a bit expensive, so I enjoy going here during happy hour or for a lunch special. They do have a great wine list. And the menu changes often. Be sure and get a window set and try the soup of the day.

We used to love Teller's. Went for lunch this week and it was disappointing, to say the least. Not much to choose from for lunch anymore. My compadre had the Beef and Talleggio Sandwich, which was a very thick piece of very chewy and very fatty beef on a roll. After taking it apart, he only found 3 or 4 bites edible. Did the waitress ask why he left a $9 sandwich on his plate? No. With so many other places to choose from, I doubt that we'll give Teller's another shot.

It was helpful and somewhat funny to read. My girlfriend and I call the young girl waitresses "children of the corn". A couple months ago we met the general manager and she was drunk who gave us free food-who are we to refuse?. Otherwise the food is nicely priced. I think the portions are good unlike what someone else wrote. But I had to laugh with your comment we will look for the little guy.The waiter or the waitress can make all the difference. I have waited tables in college and we shouldn't be making fun of them they have a difficult job. We actually enjoy going into Teller's it has sort of strange energy.
