I was thrilled to find this place and very happy that they have a very good stout. The rest of the beer menu is, in my opinion, very unremarkable, but I think it meets the expectations of the locals. It's what most people expect from beer.
The brewery has great decor and the wait staff and bartenders are very friendly. We have always received quick attention and the bartenders remember us. (not sure if that's good or bad).
The food is the letdown, unfortunately. The pizza was served barely warm, with crust that might be a frozen flat bread. The fish and chips, which I have tried 4 times, always appear to be fried in oil that is dire need of changing. The quality of the fish used ranges from very good to some sort of thick slab of unknown origin. Fish and chips are the standard meal in a brew pub, sooooo I'm not sure why they would want to use dirty oil and questionable fish.
The waffle fries, the chili and the chicken strips are the best bet.
While I am not so thrilled with the food, I will continue to go to the brewery, to enjoy the stout, the nice decor and the friendly staff and hope that someone there reads reviews and fixes the food some day..
The only thing going for the BrewCo is that it has many choices in beer. Sadly, good luck on getting the wait staff to bring it to you. The food is absolutely horrendous. I gave the food two chances and it was inedible both times. There are lots of places in town that will please the beer snob in your group. I recommend going to one of those places.
This was just about the worst night at dinner. The only thing that saved it was it was free.
My sister and I took my mother and aunt out for dinner. Deciding on SBC, we arrived early for dinner, about 4:45. Being sat next to a window in December already gives me concern, since many other tables were available. A woman introduces herself as not being out waitstaff, no name, but will take our drink order. About 10 minutes later we get our drinks from our waiter and our order was taken. He did not talk to us in any manner, no name, no discussion of how our holiday was nothing. The appetizers came as ordered, hot and yummy. No silverware or napkins. We had to ask for them. We ate all of the appetizers and waited. Then waited some more. About 20 minutes AFTER we were done the appetizers and my sister gets up to find out what is going on. As she gets to the manager, our food comes out. We ask for ketchup and a side of ranch. All four plates were pipping hot, I just wish our food was. How do you get a plate hot but the fries cold? After waiting for as long as we did we had hoped that our food would be too hot to eat. We get the manager, she takes back 3 of the 4 dishes, my aunt decided not to cause a stir, she had a pot pie and I think she might have been concerned that spit could be hidden too easily. Our plates are delivered by the manager, we ask her for the ketchup and ranch and start to dig in. All three plates are as cold as they were before. The fries weren't even placed under a salamander. The fish and chips were cold. When the manager brought the ketchup, mustard, vinegar and ranch we informed her again, we could not eat this food. She did comp the meal, we did not eat, we offered to pay for the drinks and appetizers and she declined. We also had to bring to her attention the inside of the ketchup lid. It was crusted. The bottles had old labels that were peeling and falling off. Who puts that on a table to be served?
As for our nameless server. He had 2 other tables we could see. One, a table of 4. We did notice that it took a long time for them to get their drinks, they were served by the manager. The other table was a table of 6 or 8. They were half around the corner and it was hard to tell. They split their check and he was flustered. I know he gave the wrong slip to atleast 2 people that I could see. He did not smile or interact with them in any positive manner either. I just don't see him lasting as a server long.
My guess is if we had sat at another table, the experience might have been more postive and yummy. I would just say be warned.
The atmosphere here is wonderful!! If you looking for a place with variety of food, friendly prompt service, and a unique atmosphere this is the place to be. From fun and casual to sheik and classic this fits the mold.
Excellent beer brewed on site paired with their full menu, which includes everything from burgers, wings, and pizza to cedar plank salmon and filet mignon. 3 beers are brewed here year round: a traditional lager, pale ale, and an unfiltered wheat. Three other choices change according to the seasons and the whim of the brewmaster. One of these changing choices is their black sheep category, in case you Guiness drinkers need variety.
$10 for a pitcher of great-quality beer, with a pizza or plate of wing - combined with FREE POOL ALL DAY. I'm in :) I've been going there for about 7 yrs on sundays (not nearly as many as I'd like) and it's always been the best way to get friends together for the money.
Service was spot on and the food was great. I did not get to try thier local brew, however, I will remedy that in the future.
I would recommend this as a perfect date place. Friendly service, Great Food, and Ambiance. The rest is up to you.
