(My name has been changed here to protect my privacy from the Jade East staff) Jade East on Campbell at 7pm Tuesday 5/28/13. Do NOT eat here!!!!!!!!! I was the only person eating when I ordered the buffet. They were all out of the meat in the Curry Chicken, Broccoli & Beef, another Chicken dish (NO chicken & just cooked veggies) old dried BBQ chicken, 1 sugar doughnut and no fried wontons. I asked for BBQ chicken to be put out-asked for one thing and not everything. Ate some soup & cashew chicken while I waited 30 minutes later & asked twice during that time and STILL NOTHING was put out. I said I wasn t going to stay and pay for old food and the simple request of one fresh dish to be put out that I wanted going ignored and lied to because they kept telling me they were making it to be put out. (LIE). I headed for the door and a shaved head short Asian man in his early 40 s came running out screaming at me saying to never come back. He accused me of throwing up my food because I eat too much! I said I have never gone to their bathroom after a meal, I always go before to wash my hands & do my business. He said I already ate there and to leave (my mother & I had walked down the road to there to get my brother some cashew chicken to go 2 hours before I went back to get my dinner because it seemed appetizing and was only $5.49) I shouted, How dare you judge me and accuse me of throwing up and tell me to leave because I ve eaten a lot here in the past. I don t drive, ride my bicycle, and eat 1 decent large meal a day. I head for the door and the man pushes me away from the door when I tried to leave and locks the door to keep me from going out! He threatened to break my bike and couldn t leave. I shouted at him to not touch me & he accuses me of running into him & that s why he shoved me. He kept pushing me inside when I tried to leave and calls the police which I was thrilled about. I finally said ok, I ll pay for my meal and put $7.00 cash on the counter. Then I got a plate of rice and dump it in the egg drop soup and put several egg rolls in the other soup/sauce and told them if I m paying for the buffet and not getting what I asked for, I ll make my own dish to get my money s worth. The Asian man comes running up behind me still on the phone with the police and when I turned around THE WORKER PUTS HIS HANDS ON MY NECK AND STARTS TO CHOKE ME AT THE BUFFET INFRONT OF HIS WORKERS!!!!!!!!! I yelled for help and hoped there was someone on the other end of the call on his cell he was holding between his ear and shoulder. I got away from him and shouted at the worker ladies if they saw him do that and he yells They didn t see anything! I yelled at him saying he can t put his hands on customers like that! He yells that I have to now pay $30 for the buffet. (I thought the point of a buffet is to get rid of mass produced food by charging a fee and letting people have what they wanted while they re there). I said I paid so now I can leave and he again blocks and locks the door pushing me aside, shouting at me so intensely he is spitting in my face, you can t #$%$ leave! I finally broke free while he still tried to slam me in the double doors, and hopped on my bike and rode to Signal Gas Station next door to collect myself since I was sobbing in tears. Probably going to do more than press charges like everyone including the police are telling me to do.
This is the worst Amerasian buffet food I have ever eaten in my life. There is no inspiration in the food, the sweeter Asian sauces were almost syrupy, and the buffet seemed as if it was re-heated. The veggies in the different offerings were opaque and limp...nothing looked fresh. The buffet is small in choices. Even the American section (salad) was paltry. Since I was a guest of someone, I had no option of walking out...which I would have done otherwise. The server/cashier/owner?? did replenish our water consistently. I really do not enjoy writing this type of review, but I feel the owners need to seriously call in Robert Irvine of Restaurant: Impossible.
Jade East has been around Springfield for a long time. It has one of the best locations in Springfield. Right on Glenstone and Division. The big draw to Jade East is the price . One of the cheapest buffets in town. With that said Jade east is not good. The food often is over cooked or has been sitting for awhile. LISTEN UP ALL YOU BUFFET ESTABLISHMENTS.... YOU HAVE TO THROW OUT THE FOOD YOU HAVE PREPARED IF IT HAS BEEN SITTING ANY LONGER THAN AN HOUR! Just because you have no customers does not mean you just let food sit under a heat lamp for 2 or 3 hours until someone shows up to eat it. Jade East rules at this and it's just disgusting. They often over cook the noodles to the point they are just mush. The last time we ate there was tonight. 10-03-2008 and as i write this I and my family are not feeling so great from the food we had there. We are done with Jade East ! We have give them chance after chance and they just won't improve.
Upon entering the building, noted peeling paint, and general appearance in need of maintenance. Staff friendly, place nearly deserted at lunch, ordered white meat chicken chop suey to go. The order amount was huge, waaay more than I could eat. however, a couple bites into the entree the chicken had a foul taste like meat that is starting to go bad. Won't return here for any reason.
