Missouri Hick Barbeque
Celebrating ten years of service, Missouri Hick is a fast and friendly, one of a kind bar-b-que restaurant located on the historic Route 66. We specialize in the finest smoked meats all around, dine in or call for a carry out!
i seriously doubt any of the side dishes ex the salad are made in house, our slaw and german potato salad tasted of mainly vinegar. the meat was very dry, tastes like it was warmed up and not fresh. the turkey was a loaf not an actual turkey breast. the sauces were about the only thing that had any real flavor. our poor waitress was kind and courteous, too bad she works at such a nasty place to eat.
Missouri Hicks food is most times a week old when it comes to the sides and ory meat. The cobblers are not home made, all are from the store. The pulled pork and beef are the only thing that is fresh most times, the ribbs sometimes are a week old. Good food?????? idk about that.
Great food but the worse service I've ever seen anywhere and considering we've travels and lived in Dallas, TX, Las Vegas, NV, El Paso, TX and everywhere in between we have a lot to compare to!!!
This was the second time we've eaten there and he service was actually the same the first time. Our waitress Krista got an attitude when I wouldn't let her take my tea glass while carrying an armfull of dirty dishes from another table. Spoke with the manager, Dennis, about this and he only defended her, never once apoligizing. While speaking with Dennis, this waitress Krista, was running her mouth non-stop about how she had worked there three years and never had a complaint until today (August 8, 2011) and had two in one day.
Food was good but not that good to go back and be treated so badly when spending MY money.
I've eaten here many times since they opened and we even had our family reunion catered by Missouri Hick. The food, overall, is VERY good. Pulled pork and smoked chicken are my favorites, along with the cobbler. Service has been mostly good, but I agree with other posters - sometimes it takes a while for your order to be taken and not because the restaurant is necessarily busy. I would suggest if that happens to you, mention it to someone in charge. That problem is easily corrected. I would and have recommended this restaurant to people.
I stopped in and was very impressed with the service and the food. The food, I had the sampler platter and it was great. The ribs were melt in your mouth good and the cobbler was as good as grandma's. I will be back ! A++
Have eaten here many times over the past six years. I have had great meals and poor meals. Eating here is a true gamble. You are risking throwing your money away. I have referred this place to everyone over the years. I wont do it again. The last two meals were the worst. Dried out meat that tasted like it was leftover from the previous day. The cherry wood prime rib was been a favorite. Had it a few nights ago and it was awful. It was a dry chunked up mess that they covered with a ladle full of canned mushrooms. Can't see going back or referring it again.
We detoured off the highway and went to the Hick today, ordered some of their terrific smoked sausage to take to the family for the Thanksgiving celebration. We treated very warmly and thought the atmosphere was fun, and the food is very good! They smoke on wild cherry wood. We ordered a brisket sandwich to go and some german potato salad, then 2# of sausage. The folks gave us several different types of BBQ sauce to try. Next door we saw the cutest motor park. And Cuba is well worth the drive through.
My son and I come to this area every summer to camp, canoe and relax just down the road at Ozark Outdoors. Summer 2010 we spent a week down here and came to the Missouri Hick BBQ several times. We found the service was always good, and we ate there several times when they were very busy. The food is great and the cobbler was outstanding. If your looking for small town, good cooking and BBQ in this area of MO I would highly suggest Missouri Hick BBQ.
Pretty good food, not the best in the world, but it's okay. The server that we had for our table was a very nice lady, but the rest of the server staff is awful!! There service was terrible!! My wife and I were not even greeted when we came in to wait to be seated. I finally had to go up to one of the servers to ask what we needed to do to dine in. She took down my name and then we sat down to wait to be seated, she was a younger lady with dark hair. Then if that wasn't enough, three other parties came in and were seated before us!! We dealt with another lady about this, she was a younger lady with blonde hair and she was very rude and a joke when it came to service!! Krista was our server and she was nice and had good service, but the rest of the staff was 100% disgusting!! We have a Lake House at Indian Hills Lake just outside of Cuba, Missouri so we come out to this area usually every summer from the San Francisco Bay Area, there are plenty of other places to choose from when it comes to decent dining, we will never be coming to Missouri Hick Barbeque ever again and we will encourage others to do the same!!
