This local favorite features a rustic Italian decor, a warm fireplace and outdoor dining overlooking a creek. Although it is upscale and romantic, with servers dressed in tux shirts and ties, diners dress casually and the atmosphere is relaxed. This restaurant also connects to an adjoining market where diners can enjoy sandwiches. Entrees include shrimp scampi, lobster, chicken and KC strip. This award-winning restaurant, a Kansas City favorite, is perfect for business meetings and romantic occasions.
Just returned from one of the most disappointing evenings ever...Jaspers served a $50.00 a plate meal consisting of a small appetizer, roll, olives...then small serving of very ordinary pasta followed by the all out main course of a piece of back from an underfed chicken ( I think) and 6 green beans. Of course dessert was some of the mushiest tiramisu, served with a fork, ever encountered. With a bottle of wine our bill was $150.00 and we not only came home hungry but wondering how anyone could serve such a meal with a straight face...never again.
Everytime I visit KC, THIS IS THE ONLY ITALIAN restaurant I go to!
VERY AUTHENTIC!!!!!! The staff is fantastic and they really know their wines, stop by the Enoteca for a glass of grappa or the best limoncello I ever tasted!
We had never been to Jasper's before but we received a gift certificate to the restaurant from our ring designer. It is a somewhat formal restaurant. i wore nice jeans with a dressy top and black heels. my fiance wore a dress shirt tucked into dressy jeans and nice shoes. There were mostly baby boomer age people there when we visited and they were dressed more formally than us but we did not feel out of place clothing wise. The ambiance is simple yet private. They have soft lighting with candles on the table, but it's not so dark that you have a tough time reading your menu. They had a small glass enclosed area with white christmas lights decorating plants and that looked gorgeous. We were promptly greeted and seated. We had perfect service from the time we sat down to the time we left. Their bread is FANTASTIC and WARM. The Italian Salad has very flavorful dressing. I ate the Minestrone soup and if you're sick of watery soups, then be no more. Their minstrone was very little water (just enough) but chock full of vegetables and flavor, as it should be. I ate the Marco Polo's special with spaghetti with meat sauce and chicken. talk about delicious! My fiance had something with clam in it and loved it. He also tried the coconut cake and really enjoyed it. It was a perfect experience all the way around.
We have been known to drive hundreds of miles out of our way just so we can eat at Jasper's. Not only is the food always outstanding and prepared perfectly, the service is wonderful. Add to all that, the owners who are totally concerned with your having a great dining experience, and you see why my husband and I love Jasper's.
Last but not least, their cakes and other desserts can be beat!
