Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant, Kansas City

I'm sorry, but seriously? People think this place is good? Don't get me wrong I normally LOVE Americanized (Tex Mex) Mexican, but this place is just pathetic. First of all, the place is disgustingly filthy. You can see more chips on the floor than carpet! Most of the lighting flickers like a strobe light. Maybe I was just there on a bad night, but I didn't even like the food. The chimichanga was dry and bland and the Jalapeno burrito (supposedly the best menu item they have to offer) was nothing special. Actually, Chipotle has this place beat hands down. Furthermore, they charge $1.00 for the addition of a tiny dollup of sour cream to your entree. For some good, homemade guacamole, I can understand adding $1, but for sour cream? Considering the atmosphere, (lack of) cleanliness, and poor quality of food, I think the prices are ridiculous. In a major college town this place would never survive, even if they cut their prices in half. I will say that the hostesses here were great when we asked for a new table. There was a strobing light above us at the original table, and even though it was incredibly busy, the hostess found us a new table within 5 minutes. She was the best part of the entire dining experience.

My wife and I are regulars and really like the food, atmosphere and service. The only negative thing I can think of to say is about the parking in Brookside.

great food, medium prices.. but wonderful specials. they have taken americanized mexican and made it with more flavor than most family owned mexican restaurants have.

This place is always busy but it is so good. I wouldn't say it's Authentic if that is was your looking for. It is very Americanized but it is really good. The prices are reasonable! Parking is always an issue my boyfriend drops me off at the door and usually spends a few minutes looking for parking. We sit at the bar and order drinks while we wait on our table. You have to atleast give it a chance it is good

WHAT I LOVE IS THEIR CHICKEN TENDERS

I absolutely LOVE this place. The service is good. The price is reasonable. Out of all the mexican restaurants in kcmo, this is the best. They have awesome jalepeno dip (white cheese). The salsa is good. Tacos, enchiladas, and the jalepeno burrito is absolutely wonderful. We actually regular this place once a week. We would HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!

Always an enjoyable experience from the moment you walk thru the door from the friendly staff to thre crispy chips/salsa to the variety of menu items from the always tasty beef tacos and rice. The margaritas are very satisfying as well!

Good, not great Mexican food, but for the price, it can't be beat. The owner is very friendly as is the service. Good atmosphere.
