DO NOT recommend this place. I went here for the first time, a few years ago.. At that time, it was mediocre. Thought I would give it another try, while in KC for a conference. If you like poor hospitality, and less than average food, then give it a try. I actually was shoved by a man in line, because I accidentally stepped on his foot. No fault of the place, but the whole experience was bad. I give it a 1/2 star actually.
Went to Arthur Bryants, some of the worst BBQ i've been recommended. Famous for what exactly? Not only was it cold, but it wasn't good mixed with soggy white bread that probably cost them $.50 at the store. Meat was tough and it was overpriced. Soaked in horribly ketchup tasting BBQ sauce that masked all of the meat flavor. But that didn't even matter since the meat had no flavor. Ribs were dry and overcooked. The wait was horribly long for such a disappointing meal. the place was dirty and there was no seating. The staff was not friendly at all and seemed bothered to be taking another order. I don't know what the obsession is with this place, but i've had chain restaurants serve better BBQ at half the price with a smile.
I've seen Bryant's feature on TV a number of times--but based on the
many poor reviews herein, I think I'll cross this place off my list.
I live in Austin--20 miles from Lockhart--the BBQ capital of Texas.
Why would I even consider a poorly reviewed Bryant's? There must
be better options in KC.
I ordered a full pork ribs for carryout at Speedway location. It was meatless, dry, extremely hard to chew and seriously overcooked. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner. He was one of the rudest and nastiest person in the world. He never apologized and blamed me not bringing the food back to them. He told me he had no solution for me.
I definitely would not go there any more. Consider the $20 bucks I spent there blown in the wind.
Trust my words. Don’t go there to waste your hard earned money. There are many real good BBQ in KC!
Well this company is just the worst I have ever seen on the Internet. They are discriminatory toward ADA which is the Americans with Disabilities Act.I had purchased a set of Hot sauce through this company and was told via email and also on there website that items could be returned as long as in original and unused condition. My brother recently developed a Diabetic Stroke and his doctor said certain items were not to be used by my brother any more and one of them was anything hot which could affect the lining of his stomach. When I called the owner he nastily told me that he did not care anything about anyone with disablilities and none of there products were returnable which is directly oposite of what there website says.I would advise anyone that wants to order this kind of stuff and sauces to order from another company that at least cares about disabled and handicapped people that order from them.I would also like to notify all the famous people that have lent there name to this company for endorcement that they take a look at this company for the practice like this against disabled people and decide to pull there name off of such endorcements.
I went for the first time on a Sunday. I've lived in KC all my life and have Gates mostly. The customer service at AB's is the worst I've ever encountered. Dirty plates and no silverware. When I asked for some forks I was given a very annoyed look. Good luck trying to get a box for leftovers. They give you a piece of paper to wrap it up in. You'll get grease all over your backseat getting it home. My burnt ends were all fat. I guess they exist on all their prior reviews. They really need to step it up. Gates is so much better.
I am in KC for a week, and everyone told me I had to try this restaurant. I went last night, and I was very unimpressed. I got the shredded beef sandwich with the traditional sauce. It was really pretty gross -- very fatty, the meat was tough. Lot of hype -- not a lot of substance. Ick. Going to KC Masterpiece in Overland Park tonight, and hope it is better.
