I HAD HEARD FAR AND WIDE THAT I MUST VISIT LIDIAS ON MY NEXT TRIP TO K.C. FROM THE MOMENT WE WALKED UP IT WAS A LET DOWN. THE HOST STOOD THEIR DIDN'T OPEN THE SECOND DOOR WHILE A HELD THE FIRST FOR MY GIRLFREIND. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT A COAT RACK HE POINTED ITS OVER THERE. I'M NOT A SNOB BUT THE ABC'S OF SERVICE WERE NOT FOLLOWED HERE. THE FOOD WAS AVERAGE AT BEST. THINK TWICE!
We had come in from Manhattan (Kansas) and headed to Lidia's. The dinner was a positive experience. Food and service were very good. My one problem was that I felt like I was in a huge cavern having a meal with everybody. In some dining situations this might be considered fine but not everybody would enjoy this. When in Manhattan be sure to eat at Harry's. It is another fine establishment but they need to have somebody bake them some good bread. Harry's and Lidia's are pluses on the Kansas/Mo. eating scene.
for any pasta lovers. No matter what the pastas sound like, they are always phenomenal. The butternut squash ravioli is an example of one that didn't sound as good initially but was excellent. All gnoccis have been fantastic. Tiramusu is great. Excellent choice for Italian food. The Sunday Brunch is a good value at $20 for the food you get, including a bloody mary.
Hands down, Lidia's is the best Italian restaurant in town. From the amazing fireplace to the hand-blown glass chandelier, the ambiance of this restaurant is incredible. The food however is what will keep you coming back over and over again. The pasta trio is always great, but the Osobuco is the best dish on the menu.
Lidia's offers authentic Italian and a wonderful environment with great service. The prices are resonable, too--and it beats any Italian restaurant. Take a break from The Plaza and Crown Center and find Lidia's.
Every time I eat at Lydia's, I am never disappointed. The food is always hot and fresh, and there is always a great new special offered. There is usually a pasta special that lets you try 3 pastas for one price. It is a great date place, but be prepared to pay a little more when you dine here. But it's worth every bite!
I used to live in KC and truly enjoyed going to Lidia's on weekends. The food is great, fun environment and the perfect place to hang out with friends or that special someone!
It's one thing I missed about KC!
