I heard jim just passed away wow that resturaunt was part of independence and sugar creek for years I just new if I drove by it was going to be open still and the family would carry on I was wrong signs already down and closed were am I going to get my big jim now darn it!!!!!!!!!!
I don t care what the building looks like, it s old, I do know they clean it. the people in there are nice, friendly, and not afraid to talk and joke with you. the food is good. If you leave there still hungry it wasn t their fault. good home cooking and good company, including the patrons. I plan to keep going back as much as possible.
I don't really care what you all think! It is a very nice place to go. My grandparents went there and so did my parents! I go there when I can and the atmosphere is great! Jim is very sweet and nice! He comes out to say hi and to talk! He isn't a snoody owner! And they clean the floors all the time as the tables as well! It's an old building so wear and tear should be expected! The food is great, the people are awesome, and I love the fact that there is places you can still smoke inside! I am a smoker myself and I hate having to walk away from my friends and family to smoke outside! Smokers pay more taxes than non-smokers! So I think it's wonderful that they have it a smoking establishment! But if you like great food and great atmosphere Jim's Family restaurant is one place you will find it!!!!!!
I went there with my family, an yes it's not a 5 star place to eat and not all the food is the greatest, but I love the fried chicken. I'm not a smoker and my mom cannot be around a lot of smoke and I wish they had a smoking ban there, it is a very small place but the food was good for the price.
Last time I went into Jim's I decided I wasn't going to eat. the tables look like they hadn't been cleaned all day and the floor looked like it hadn't been clean the whole year. I smoke and I would rather do without to eat in that place. I couldn't bring myself to go into the bathroom. I use to have a friend that worked for Jim and Sue it was a good place in the day. How come Jim moved to Sugar Creek?
I'm rating this restaurant for sentimental.Reasons.I have'nt eaten there in ages, but it was my favorite place to eat as a child. My parents took me almost every friday night.I loved the murals of Independence history.I hope that nothing has changed over the years.
